...THE RUN CHASE…

Right then, the target is not a big one for South Africa and they would have taken this target with both hands at the start of the game. Bangladesh, though, have a good variety in their bowling lineup and we can expect a good fight from them. Can they defend this total to script a historic series victory? Or will South Africa stay alive in the series with a win here? All the answers coming your way. Stay tuned for the chase.

Kagiso Rabada is down for a quick chat. Says it is a must-win game for them and he just tried to execute his skills. He accepts he was a bit ruthless this time around. Mentions, they bowled really well up front in the last game but could not pick up wickets. Adds that he is glad for his five-for but there is still a lot of work to do in the game. Adds, they would’ve been happier to chase less but that is what cricket is. He adds that he backs his batters to chase this down in a do-or-die situation.

All the euphoria of the first ODI win on the South African soil was put to rest early in the innings as wicket started tumbling one after another. In no time, they were five down and it was upto the experienced Mahmudullah and talented Afif Hossain to bring some stability into the innings. A 60-runs stand followed but Mahmudullah departed and then it was a brilliant partnership between Mehidy Hasan and Afif Hossain and the pair added 86 runs more to take their team over 150. However, once those two departed, it became a tough task for tail-enders to take them to a par score and they eventually failed to reach 200.

A strong bowling performance by South Africa! It would have been probably better if Parnell would have not got injured. The seamers were on fire with the new ball as they sent back half of the Bangladesh side back to the hut with just 34 runs on the board. However, the injury to Parnell made things little difficult for the skipper, Bavuma and he decided to bring himself on. Shamsi bowled well and took a wicket but Keshav Maharaj was a tad off-colour today. However, the pick of the bowlers was Rabada as he broke a dangerous partnership between Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan and ended with a five-wicket haul. Overall, a good performance by South African bowlers and their batters will fancy chasing this total down.

From 34-5, Bangladesh have managed to put 194 on the board. It shows the depth and confidence in this Bangladesh side but still a total that South Africa will be comfortable chasing on this pitch. South Africa, though will be tad disappointed especially after the start but they are still favourites to win this game, going into the second-half.
