That's all we have from this match. We look forward to your company for the second ODI in Durban on Sunday. Until then, it's good bye and cheers!!!
Quinton de Kock is the unanimous choice for the Man of the Match award. He is extremely pleased with his performance and says that Man of the Match is always nice to get. Adds that it was a bit tough to bat earlier in the innings.
AB de Villiers says that it's important to be confident in sports. He praises Amla and de Kock for providing the kick start and adds that it was easy for rest of them to bat. He is very happy with the batting in the death overs and feels that with the kind of bowling they possess, they can restrict any side. On Steyn, de Villiers says that he's a bit of a freak with any ball and there is a reason why he is the number 1 Test bowler in the world.
MS Dhoni says that it was a bad performance by them. His hand is fine and he'll be ready for next game. Adds that he was disappointed with the new ball bowling more than the death bowling. He praises Shami but also adds that the other bowlers gave away too many runs.
India were completely outplayed today. The bowling didn't fare well on a wicket which had something in for the pacers and the batting faltered too when needed. Apart from the skipper, MS Dhoni, none of the batsmen looked at ease against the pace and bounce and it's going to be a tough time for them in the series.
A convincing win for South Africa to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. Their batsmen piled on a huge total on the board and the pace of their bowlers was too hot to handle for the famed Indian batting. They completely blew away the visitors and registered a comfortable win over the best ODI side at the moment.
Dale Steyn to Mohammed Shami
OUT! All over, South Africa win by 141 runs! Steyn spears in a back of a length ball around off at 140.7 kph, Ahmed is hurried up a bit and hits it uppishly back to the bowler. Steyn accepts the return catch gleefully to end the match. The players shake hands and head off the field.
Clever slower delivery by Steyn, on a good length around off, Shami is early into his shot and chips it in the air. It falls just short of the cover fielder.
Another sharp delivery, short around off, Shami tries to cut but is beaten for pace.
Back of a length delivery on middle, Shami presents a straight bat and defends it solidly.
Shami Ahmed is the last Indian batsman.
Dale Steyn to MS Dhoni
OUT! Chops it on! Pacey delivery again, around off and a touch short, Dhoni tries to cut it off his back foot but it's too close to his body and he ends up dragging it back onto the stumps. End is nigh for India!
Five wides! India won't mind that single bit! Steyn dishes out a pacey bouncer, around off and going well over the batsman and the keeper.
Length ball on middle, Dhoni flicks it to deep square leg. Dot ball.
Ryan McLaren to MS Dhoni
Length delivery on middle, Dhoni eases it off his pads to deep mid-wicket for a single. 28/1 in the Batting Powerplay overs!
FOUR! Bullet! Short and wide outside off, Dhoni latches onto it and whacks it through covers for a boundary.
Length ball outside off, Dhoni cuts it straight to point.
Shortish on off, Dhoni tries to pull it but the ball bounces a tad high and takes his gloves. The ball balloons in the air and falls wide of the keeper. Dhoni is once again ruffled but flashes a smile.
Wide! Full and drifting down the leg side, Dhoni once again fails to flick it.
