Swapnil Asnodkar is a right-handed opening batsman and represents Goa in first-class cricket. Despite a diminutive stature, he is an attacking batsman and has been one of Goa’s leading run-getters. The 2007-08 Ranji Trophy season was his best where he scored 640 runs at an average of 71.11 with a personal best of 254 not out.
His claim to fame was the 2008 IPL season where he formed the highest opening partnership of the tournament with Graeme Smith for the Rajasthan Royals. Together they scored 418 runs at an average close to 60 in the edition. His fearless batting style was compared to that of Sri Lankan Romesh Kaluwitharana and won the praise of his captain Shane Warne.
