Pakistan batting legend Hanif Mohammad, who underwent a complicated operation and stayed in London this year for the treatment of liver cancer, had rued on his 79th birthday celebrated last week that he had to take loans to finance his expensive treatment.

The Islamabad High Court this week ordered elections to be held for the chairmanship of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by November 2, the latest twist in a saga that began in May when the same court suspended the board's then-chief, Zaka Ashraf, following complaints about his election.

He said that for him cricket remained his foremost passion and he still had some years of cricket left in him.
