Steve Snell Profile

Stephen Snell started playing youth cricket for Hampshire and then moved to Gloucestershire, making his first-class debut in 2005. Snell impressed with a gutsy 83, helping his side recover against Bangladesh A.

A right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper, Snell's best season came in 2008, when he scored 944 runs in the Championship, with a personal best of 127. However, his form faded and in the next two seasons he barely averaged 20. He was released by the club at the end of the 2010, following which he played Minor Counties cricket for Hertfordshire.

There was a sudden turn of events when in 2011, Snell found himself on the way to India for the Champions League T20, as part of the Somerset squad. This surprise call-up was a result of England missing the services of Craig Kieswetter and Jos Buttler due their national duty.
