Latham there stays low and takes a sharp catch. Hafeez, who looked nervous throughout his short stay, is walking back. Ideal start for New Zealand as they draw first blood and quite early.  18/1

71 OUT! Azhar Ali is short and he has been given his marching orders. This is probably the only way this 126-run partnership could have been broken. Ali walks back dejected, 19 short of a well-deserved ton. A mix up here. Ali strokes this towards the mid off fielder, who is a touch deep, and Azhar puts his head down and sets off for a run. Haris Sohail is ball-watching and then sends his partner back. Ali, who is halfway down the wicket, turns and tries to get back. Southee, the substitute fielder, collects the ball and throws it to the keeper. It is not the best of throws though. Watling does well to collect the throw in front of the stumps which is a touch to his left and then quickly breaks the sticks. An appeal follows and it is taken upstairs. Replays roll in and they show that Ali has not made his ground. The Kiwis are ecstatic as they desperately needed this breakthrough. They would now look to pick a few more.  151/3

He bowls it full and around off, it shapes away a touch. Sohail tries to drive but the ball takes the outside edge and goes into the mitts off the keeper. He just about takes it. 81 OUT! In the air and gone. Oh dear, you grind the whole day without giving any attention to the run rate and then throw your wickets away. End result is that the team's total has not even touched 200 and now they have four back in the hut. This ploy more often than not backfires these days. Coming to the wicket delivery, it's a flighted one around off, Shafiq dances down the track and tries to go over the top. But the ball spins away a bit and takes the outside edge of the bat. It goes uppishly and Neil Wagner at backward point grabs an easy catch. Rush of blood for Shafiq. He was not looking comfortable at all playing Patel. This is a good passage of play for the Kiwis.  174/4

Pitched outside leg, Taylor gets forward to defend, with the bat in line of the middle stump, looking to cover the line. This is floated around off, Watling strokes it towards covers. He then sets off for a run but then hesitates for a second but eventually goes for it. Hasan Ali there throws it to the bowler who whips the bails off and appeals. The umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and it shows that Yasir does not collect the ball but luckily for him, it deflects onto the stumps. Watling's dive does not same him. Ideal start for Pakistan after the break, they are now staring down the barrel.  63/5

31 OUT! PLUMB LBW! New Zealand are in tatters. Hasan Ali is amongst the wickets now. The ball is on a good length outside off and then jags back sharply. De Grandhomme looks to defend from the crease but is unable to counter the movement. Is hit in front of the stumps and the umpire raises his finger! Does not even bother reviewing. He floats this around leg stump and Neil comes forward to defend but misses. Is hit on the pads and up goes the umpire's finger on the appeal. Wagner probably thinks that to be pitched outside leg or spinning down the leg side as he reviews, but nope, Hawk Eye shows that to be dead plumb. He has missed a straight one.  72/8

Floated outside off, Boult comes down the track to defend but the ball spins away and he is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. Sarfraz collects and furiously whips off the bails. This is tossed up outside off, Raval stretches and plays inside the line. The ball skids past the outside edge. Ahmed collects the ball and whips the bails off. He appeals, the umpire takes it upstairs. Raval then asks the leg umpire if he is out but gets no response. Replays roll in and it shows Raval has nothing behind the line. New Zealand lose one with not a lot on the board. They are still trailing by another 318 runs.  10/1

49.3 OUT! Given out caught behind! The ball has carried! Well, there is a spike on the Snickometer but guess that the third umpire has given this in a bit of hurry. Massive moment in the game and Latham is not happy at all. Does not show any emotion, just walks off with his head down. Respect. On a length outside off, comes in a long way, Nicholls looks to defend but is beaten by the movement. There is a noise as the ball goes past bat and Pakistan appeal. Initially, Paul Reiffel is about to discuss with the square leg umpire whether the ball carried but then stops himself. Then Pakistan put more pressure and eventually, Reiffel signals upstairs, giving the soft signal as OUT. Now, here is the catch - Snickometer shows a spike when the ball goes past the bat - but at that same moment, the willow has hit the pad too! Could it have been that the noise came off the bat hitting the equipment? However, Ian Gould is happy with just two views. Immediately says that it is out. Could have taken more time. Floated around middle, Williamson lunges to defend but the ball spins away, with a noise, to the keeper. There is a massive caught behind appeal but the umpire stays firm. Pakistan have a mini-conference and then signal for the review. It is a wicket for Yasir! Big, big blow. The Kiwis still trail by 262!  66/2

68.3 OUT! Top edge and this time the catch is taken! Well, this was coming. Taylor was looking a bit too flirty. This is the difference between Yasir and Bilal - BOUNCE. Had Rosco played this shot to Yasir, he might have pulled it off. But because Bilal induces extra bounce, Taylor gets a top edge off the sweep. He got a top edge in Bilal's last over too. That time, the fielder was placed at the deep fine leg boundary. On this occasion, Yasir was stationed 10 yards inside. Comes running in slightly and takes a decent catch. Taylor misses out on a century but more importantly, Pakistan are back in this again. Not that they were out of this, but now, the remaining 6 wickets don't look that far. 92.4 OUT! The umpire raises his finger. This could be the spark I was talking about. Huge wicket! Watling wants the review but 15 seconds have passed says the umpire and the batsman has to continue walking. The ball was on middle and Watling coming ahead, tries to defend but misses the ball. He gets rapped low on the front pad as the ball holds its line. Replays show that even if Watling had gone on to review, it wouldn't have mattered as the ball was going on to hit the top of leg stump. It was a good partnership of 57 runs that has been broken and Pakistan are halfway through the batting line-up now.  255/5

95.4 OUT! TIMBER! Hasan Ali gets his man once again. This is the third time in 4 innings he has got Colin in this series. His bunny? Well one could say so. He was exactly brought in to get CdG and he has delivered. However, Colin has thrown it away. He had come out with an attacking approach but you need to be selective about which ball to attack and which ball not to. This was on a length and around off, Colin swings across the line, the ball does not bounce as he anticipates it to. It sneaks under his bat, hits the pads and then deflects onto the stumps. Hasan brings out his trademark celebration and also gives de Grandhomme the stare. Pakistan now 4 wickets away from an innings victory. Also, they are into the tail now.  270/6

100.5 OUT! Cleaned all ends up! Unnecessary from Sodhi here! Nice and looped up delivery on middle and leg, holding its line. Sodhi goes for the paddle sweep but misses the ball completely. It goes on to hit the stumps. Disappointing stuff from Ish, especially with a set batsman at the other end. Fourth wicket of this innings for Yasir and Pakistan are just 3 away now.  285/7

This was the googly, outside off, Wagner went for the slog sweep but due to the away turn, got a top edge. The ball swirled a lot in the air but Hasan Ali came running in from deep mid-wicket, kept his cool and took it nicely, diving forward in the end.
