run out (Shardul Thakur)
29.2 OUT! RUN OUT! That is a suicidal single. Full and around middle, Taylor reverse sweeps it towards short third man. He looks up at his partner and Guptill is ready for the single. Shardul Thakur gets across to his left and throws it off balance to the keeper. Rahul whips off the bails and even while appealing, India are already celebrating. In fact, Guptill is already running towards the pavillion. Jadeja is confident that is out. The square leg umpire takes it upstairs and replays show that Guptill is well short. Pretty good throw from Thakur, given that he threw it off balance and that is what perhaps did Guppy in. He might have thought Shardul might not be able to release the ball. Guptill cannot get to his century but worse for New Zealand, they are losing their way now. 157/3

Henry Nicholls | 41 | 59 | 5 | 0 | 69.49 |
lbw b Yuzvendra Chahal
16.5 OUT! LBW! Umpire's call on angle and height and that will do for India. A touch shorter than full, around leg, Nicholls looks to play the sweep but misses and is hit on the pads. Chahal appeals long and hard, umpire Oxenford thinks for a while and then raises his finger! Nicholls has a chat with his partner and then signals for the review. No inside edge as per Ultra Edge and Ball Tracker shows the ball to be spinning down leg but just clipping leg stump on its way. A good but sluggish opening stand has been broken. Replays show that Kohli was not happy with the umpire for allowing the review to be taken as the clock had already ticked past 0 seconds. 93/1

Tom Blundell | 22 | 25 | 3 | 0 | 88 |
c Navdeep Saini b Shardul Thakur
26.3 OUT! CAUGHT! There goes Blundell. The partnership is broken one short of a half century. A length ball, on middle, Blundell comes down the track and looks to go over the fielder at mid on. Does not quite get the elevation and the ball hits the toe end of his bat. It is a simple catch to Navdeep Saini over there who takes it pretty comfortably. 142/2

Tom Latham C Wk | 7 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 50 |
lbw b Ravindra Jadeja
33.1 OUT! LBW! The hosts continue spiralling downhill. Third wicket in the span of 41 balls, for 29 runs. Latham departs. Looked to be pretty needless review. Pitched in line of the stumps, Latham looked to sweep but missed and was hit on the pads. Jadeja roared an appeal, the umpire thought for a while and then raised his finger. For some reason, Latham felt it worth reviewing. Maybe, he thought it was going past the off stump. Ball Tracker came in and showed the ball hitting the off stump. Latham goes and takes a review along with him. 171/4

James Neesham | 3 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 60 |
run out (Ravindra Jadeja)
34.2 OUT! RUN OUT! Another brilliant piece of fielding from India. They were ordinary the other night. Spectacular so far. A length ball, outside off, Taylor taps it towards backward point and takes a start for the single. He then looks up at Neesham as he sees Jadeja haring in. But Neesham is positive about the single and charges across. Big mistake. Never take Jadeja on. 'Sir' gets across from point to his left, picks the ball and fires a throw at the striker's end. Bull's eye. The Indians know it is out but the umpire does not want to take any risks. Refers it upstairs and replays show that Neesham can continue running to the dressing room. 175/5
Colin de Grandhomme | 5 | 8 | 1 | 0 | 62.50 |
c Shreyas Iyer b Shardul Thakur
37 OUT! CAUGHT! De Grandhomme has done it again. Absolutely no awareness about the situation and he keeps throwing his wicket away. A length ball, on middle, de Grandhomme looks to pull but gets a massive top edge. The ball goes high in the air and Shreyas Iyer accepts a sitter running in from deep square leg. New Zealand needed de Grandhomme to stay with Taylor. De Grandhomme needed a boundary to shift the tempo. Not quite matching the team's needs. 185/6
Mark Chapman | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 50 |
c & b Yuzvendra Chahal
37.4 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! That is a tame dismissal. Just a simple chip. Around middle, Chapman looks to push it down the ground. But all he manages is a simple return catch. Chahal dropped one earlier but he is not going to drop that. The collapse continues. 6/45 in the last 67 balls. 187/7
Tim Southee | 3 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 30 |
c Navdeep Saini b Yuzvendra Chahal
41.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Another one falls. Full and around off, nicely flighted. Southee looks to play the slog but he has to drag this ball to the leg side. Hence, he mistimes it and finds Navdeep Saini at long on. New Zealand all set to fall short of playing their 50 overs. 197/8

Prithvi Shaw | 24 | 19 | 6 | 0 | 126.31 |
b Kyle Jamieson
5 OUT! TIMBER! What a big moment for Kyle Jamieson! It is a delight for every bowler. Jamieson gets his first wicket and with some delivery. Full delivery on off, nipping in sharply. Shaw looks to drive without moving his feet. The ball sneaks between his bat and pad, going onto the stumps. Brilliant bowling and now India have lost their second wicket in quick time. 34/2
Mayank Agarwal | 3 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 60 |
c Ross Taylor b Hamish Bennett
2.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Bennett, after a poor first few balls gets this on a perfect line and length. This is a brilliant delivery. Agarwal might feel that he should have taken the third off the previous ball. Good length ball on off, Agarwal looks to defend but it takes the outside edge and goes towards Taylor at first slip. He takes a simple catch and New Zealand strike early. 21/1
Virat Kohli C | 15 | 25 | 1 | 0 | 60 |
b Tim Southee
9.4 OUT! BOWLED! That is a poor shot. The line is good, keeping it straight and the length is just short of full. But Kohli plays a bit of a rash shot, trying to drive this through mid on and in that process, opens a bit of a gap between bat and pad. The ball hits his front pad and then hits the stumps. This is the 6th time Kohli has been dismissed by Southee in ODIs - joint most by any bowler. West Indies' Ravi Rampaul has dismissed him 6 times as well. Across formats, Tim Southee has got him 9 times - most by any bowler. Gets past Jimmy Anderson from England. 57/3
Shreyas Iyer | 52 | 57 | 7 | 1 | 91.22 |
c Tom Latham b Hamish Bennett
27.3 OUT! Rash, very rash from Shreyas Iyer! He has thrown his wicket away soon after completing his half century. Bennett speeds in and delivers a shortish ball in the line of the stumps. Shreyas tries to invent a square cut by going deep inside the crease. It's not the delivery for that shot but he still goes for it. But since it's too close to his body, he fails to get the execution right. The ball takes a thick outside edge and flies straight into the gloves of Latham. The set batsman and probably the only hope for India departs. It was a good-looking knock but the ending is quite questionable. That attempted shot was completely needless. 129/6
KL Rahul Wk | 4 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 50 |
b Colin de Grandhomme
13.2 OUT! CHOPPED ON! Another wicket thrown away. A length ball, outside off, Rahul goes back and tries to manufacture a cut shot but is cramped for room. He ends up being too close to the ball and gets an inside edge which hits the stumps. De Grandhomme strikes on his second ball. 71/4
Kedar Jadhav | 9 | 27 | 1 | 0 | 33.33 |
c Henry Nicholls b Tim Southee
20.5 OUT! CAUGHT! There goes the 5th. Kedar cannot replicate his pyrotechnics. Full and wide outside off, this is right there in the slot and he goes hard at it. But he cannot quite get the elevation and finds Henry Nicholls at short extra cover. The good-looking stand is broken. India need 178 more from 175 balls. 96/5
Ravindra Jadeja | 55 | 73 | 2 | 1 | 75.34 |
c Colin de Grandhomme b James Neesham
48.3 OUT! Jadeja holes out. NEW ZEALAND TAKE THE SERIES! Neesham fails to land his attempted yorker and it's a low full toss outside off. Jadeja lines up for a big shot over long off but fails to pump it over the fielder. It falls straight down de Grandhomme's throat in the deep and NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 22 RUNS! 251/10
Shardul Thakur | 18 | 15 | 3 | 0 | 120 |
b Colin de Grandhomme
31.1 OUT! De Grandhomme strikes on the very first ball and New Zealand are just 3 wickets away from clinching the series. A length ball around off, it pitches and then comes back in nicely. Thakur looks to defend but misses. The ball kisses his pad and goes behind to disturb the woodwork behind. 121 required from 113 balls. 153/7
Navdeep Saini | 45 | 49 | 5 | 2 | 91.83 |
b Kyle Jamieson
44.3 OUT! BOWLED! Jamieson roars. The slower ball does the trick. This was not far from being sent out of the stadium. This is on a length and Saini is ready with his pull. But the slower ball comes on late and the bat swing is already completed by then. The ball skids on and hits the leg stump. End of a sensational stand of 76 in 80 balls. Saini departs for a wonderful 45 from 49 balls. Momentum with India now. 45 from 33 balls required. 229/8
Yuzvendra Chahal | 10 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 83.33 |
run out (James Neesham)
47.5 OUT! Chahal is found short! A total mix-up but Jadeja is not at fault at all. Full and wide outside off, Jadeja squeezes this through the covers. He takes the single and is happy with it. There is a slight misfield and Chahal senses that opportunity to come back for the second. But Jadeja puts his hand out and clearly yells NO. Chahal does not hear that and is halfway down the track. He has to return and by that time, Neesham returns a good throw to Latham who whips the bails off. The square leg umpire does not even refer it upstairs. Replays show that it was a close call but Chahal was short. He smiles. 251/9
