So, that's all we have folks! It's a bright day in the history of West Indies cricket as both their men's and women's team have qualified for the finals of this year's World T20. The Women side will face Australia at 1430 IST while the men's will take on the Brits on Sunday for the finals at 1900 IST respectively at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Who will come on top? We shall find out. Until then, goodbye and good night!
MS DHONI THE INDIAN SKIPPER says it was a bad toss to lose. Adds the dew played its part as the spinners found it very difficult to grip the ball. Adds they have a history on spinners not doing well when dew comes into play. Is very disappointed with those no balls. Further says he wanted his fast bowlers to make a game and feels they bowled decently and accepts the conditions were tough for them. On this game, says the players found it difficult. Ends by crediting Kohli for his performance in the tournament.
DARREN SAMMY, VICTORIOUS WEST INDIAN SKIPPER says he is very happy with their performance. Adds they knew they had to take a massive step and they were aware that 200 runs was on the cards to chase. Adds he loves this ground as it is always good when it comes to chasing. Adds he is very, very happy with the efforts from the West Indies Women's team (On the women making it to the finals). Accepts that Gayle is their best player but praises others who are matchwinners for them. On what he feels about the death overs, he says it can't be described in one word. Says he told his boys, they won't give it to us for free, we have to snatch it from them. On the finals, he says they are just one step away now.
LENDL SIMMONS, MAN OF THE MATCH, says he slept in the whole flight when he got a call after Afghanistan's game but he was fit to play. Adds he had to deliver here tonight and he is happy to do so. Further says he has the experience of playing here in Mumbai and made it count tonight. Says this is his best innings as he has proved himself. Accepts the score wasn't that easy but the fact that he played here before helped him hold his nerves and drag it for his side.
For India, well, it was a tough day for them. They bowled brilliantly at the start but then Simmons was dismissed twice off no balls which will haunt them for a very long time. Kohli delivered it with the ball as he scalped a wicket on the very first ball of his spell but they lost the plot and couldn't make a comeback thereafter. Their bowlers weren't up to the mark with only Nehra making his experience count.
Charles was at his super best as he was the one who brought the rhythm at the start. He along with Simmons stitched a brisk 97-run stand for the second wicket and once he perished Russell and Simmons finished the game with 2 balls to spare. Their partnership of 80 off just 39 balls will tell you that running between the wickets wasn't a problem for them as they kept towering a biggie almost every over and with that kept the run rate under check.
So, we have got our two teams who will go through to the finals. It's West Indies who have joined England. This match was a real run-fest and boy, West Indies have upset the home side in a stupendous manner. They didn't start off well as the big man, Gayle was cleaned up early on and then Samuels couldn't do much. What came as a surprise package was the innings of Lendl Simmons who was a last minute call after Fletcher's exit. He grabbed the opportunity and to be honest he had luck favoring him all throughout.

Jasprit Bumrah To Lendl Simmons
SIX! Jadeja's feet is in contact with the ropes! Slower length ball on off, Simmons was under pressure as there were three dot balls. He heaves this one towards mid-wicket where Jadeja takes it near the ropes and parries it to Kohli. For once I thought that's a clean catch but in such big games the umpire won't take any risks. They refer it upstairs and the replays show Jadeja has touched the ropes. It's a biggie. This is turning out to be worse for India.
Third umpire is asked to see if Jadeja has taken the catch cleanly.
