That is it from us then! Not quite the exciting contest we thought we would get but nonetheless we hope to expect some sort of a good match when the second T20I unfolds at the same venue on Saturday, 3rd June, 2017 at 1930 local (2330 GMT, previous night). You can also catch all the action from the Champions Trophy. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
MAN OF THE MATCH, SUNIL NARINE feels good to be back in national colours. Does not feel that West Indies relaxed when Afghanistan were 58/8 but credits the opposition for batting smartly. Does not feel that there is any secret to his bowling on being asked as to why batsmen are not able to pick him.
Victorious West Indian skipper, CARLOS BRATHWAITE, credits his side for being professional. But wants his side to be a bit more clinical in finishing games. On the improvement for the second game, he wants his side to improve its fielding considering the dropped catches tonight.
ASGHAR STANIKZAI, Afghanistan skipper, is disappointed with the batting effort. But does not want to believe that fielding first would have been better. Is eager to come back with a better display in the second game.
Cannot say the Afghans did not fight. They stretched the home side till the 17th over and bounced back superbly after going for runs early on. Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 1/14 in 4 overs. 20-30 runs more could have made the game interesting. Stay tuned for the presentation.
Comfortable win for the Windies. They started like a train on fire, but slowed down considerably towards the fag end of the innings. Lewis, Walton and Samuels, each got a start while Jason Mohammed spent some time in the middle.
