Right then, that is it from this one-sided encounter where Bengaluru ends the winning streak of Hyderabad and stays alive in the tournament. However, the action in the Indian T20 League continues on 26th April, Friday as Kolkata takes on Punjab at the iconic Eden Gardens. The match will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as you know, you an always join us early for all the build-up to the game. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Rajat Patidar is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his smashing fifty. He says that he just tried to keep things simple and control the controllables. Tells that he works hard on his technique and keep a positive mindset. Ends by saying that he was just backing himself in this game and it worked out.
Faf du Plessis, the victorious skipper of Bengaluru says that they displayed great character in the last two games where they lost by thin margins but says you need to win matches to get confidence. Adds he will sleep a bit easier after this win and is happy to take the game. Says you can't fake confidence in the group and the only thing you can do is to perform and try 100 percent. Also says that the competition is strong and feels delighted to see more guys scoring runs now. Appreciates Virat Kohli and says that he has been very consistent for them and also lauds Cameron Green for giving an all-round performance. Goes on to appreciate Karn Sharma for his excellent bowling spell and says that it's very crucial to have a leg spinner in the side. Further adds that bowling at Chinnaswamy has been tough for them and that they are trying to find a recipe to bowl at that ground.
Pat Cummins, the captain of Hyderabad says that it was not an ideal outing for them and it just didn't go their way. Reckons maybe a few more runs were given the ball. Also says that they lost too many early wickets coming into the chase. He says he doesn't think that batting second was the reason for the defeat. Adds that it is a long tournament and a few results will go here and there. He thinks that batting is their stronger suit but also ends up by saying that it's not necessary that it will work out every time.
Presentation Time ...
Cameron Green is up for a chat. He says that it's always nice to get the win and feels pretty good. On being asked about batting first, he credits the captain Faf and the coach for taking the brave decision. He adds that it's too early in his career and he's trying to work out things with the bat but says he enjoys to bat. Adds they have got a couple of day's break before the next game and they'll keep up with this performance.
Earlier in the game, Bengaluru posted a good total on the board courtesy of a couple of good half-centuries from Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli along with two good cameos from Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green. Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers in his 100th match with three wickets while T Natarajan got a couple of scalps. Pat Cummins and Mayank Markande also chipped in with one but were a bit expensive. While chasing, they had their worst Powerplay of this season and never really recovered from it and had to face defeat in the end.
Bengaluru, on the other hand, marked their 250th Indian T20 League game with a victory. They were excellent with the ball, especially in the Powerplay and everything worked for them. They started with Will Jacks who got the massive wicket of Travis Head in the first over. Yash Dayal followed it up by getting rid of the dangerous Abhishek Sharma. The Impact Player Swapnil Singh then made a massive impact by getting both Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen in the same over which put the visitors well in control of the game. Karn Sharma in the middle overs was exceptional and picked up two crucial wickets. Cameron Green was handed over the ball and got a couple as well including the wicket of the opposition skipper who was looking a bit threatening. It was a quite comfortable win for them in the end.
Hyderabad needed their openers to give them a good start in the Powerplay but suffered a huge blow when Travis Head departed in the first over. Abhishek Sharma did hit a few lusty blows to counter-attack but he too was dismissed inside the Powerplay. In a crazy fifth over, they collected 19 runs but lost both Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen which put them on the back foot. It was then up to the two young Indians, Shahbaz Ahmed and Nitish Kumar Reddy to rescue them out of that troubling situation. However, that was not the case as they lost a few more wickets in the middle overs and couldn't really get any sort of partnership going. Their skipper Pat Cummins tried his best and scored a quick-fire 31 off just 15 balls but without much support from the other end. Shahbaz stayed at one end losing partners at the other but fought hard with a gritty knock. Despite of that, they fell short by 35 runs.
BENGALURU FINALLY GET THIER SECOND WIN OF THE SEASON! After losing six straight matches, they have managed to put up a clinical performance and take down one of the dangerous sides this season quite comfortably. That is why this is the most competitive league in the world as anyone can beat anyone at any time. Hyderabad will be disappointed with the way they approached this chase and only have themselves to blame here.

WIDE! Slower bouncer on almost the helmet level of the batter. Jaydev Unadkat misses to flick and the ball carries to the keeper. Oh, wait! Faf du Plessis has sent it upstairs challenging the on-field decision for giving it as a Wide. The TV Umpire confirms after checking the side-on replay that the ball is passing well over the batter's helmet. The TV Umpire also summons for the UltraEdge that confirms a flat line when the ball passes near the bat. On-field decision for a Wide stays and Bengaluru burn a review here.
