Right then, that's all from today. First game was a low scoring affair with Delhi only scoring 67 and suffering a massive defeat. Even the evening game turned out to be one-sided after David Warner's scintillating century destroyed Kolkata. We now shift our attention to Monday where again we will be having two matches - Mumbai vs Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium at 1600 local (1030 GMT) and Pune vs Gujarat at the MCA Stadium at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do join us for all the action. Cheers!
Man of the Match, David Warner is all smiles. Says it's an outstanding feeling. Admits that they lost the toss but always wanted to bat first on this wicket. Adds that the plan was to do well in the first six and is happy that they managed to maintain the same rate throughout. Feels that the contribution from Dhawan was crucial in the opening partnership as he played second fiddle and kept rotating the strike. Regarding fielding in the deep and captaining, he replies it's challenging. Praises his bowlers for delivering the goods. Also adds that they always wanted to make this venue their fortress and signs off by thanking the crowd.
Gautam Gambhir says that they have to improve their fielding. Adds that they need to pull up their socks in that department if they have to go all the way in this tournament. On their fielding, he further says it depends on the concentration and commitment of the fielders. Credits Warner for playing a marvelous knock. Feels that had they taken their chances, things would have been different. Ends by saying that it's good to go back home.
Kolkata just didn't turn up for this game. Their bowling was toothless to say the least and the batsmen also failed to come to the party. Apart from Robin Uthappa, who stroked yet another fluent half century, there wasn't much fight shown by the two-time champions. Even after this loss, they stay on top of the table and won't be too disheartened.
Emphatic win for Hyderabad! They delivered a clinical performance against the team on top of the points table and outclassed them in all the facets of the game. Powered by David Warner's 59-ball 126, they amassed a big total on the board and then their bowlers completed the job quite efficiently. All the three leading pacers picked two wickets apiece and always kept the visiting team on the back foot. Hyderabad remain unbeaten at home this season and consolidate their third spot.
