That ends a terrific day's cricket. Both games today were thrilling with this game being of another level to be honest. Hope you enjoyed all the action. Tomorrow is going to be even more huge as India take on Pakistan in Kolkata. Match is at 1930 IST. Join us for that epic clash. Till then, it's good bye from us.
FAF DU PLESSIS says that the T20 format is old enough for people to know that no score is safe. Feels that England played terrific cricket, particularly in the Powerplay to put pressure on his side. Feels that his side gave away too many extras which hurt South Africa a lot. Says that he is very happy with the batting and offered his sympathy for his bowlers on a flat deck like this. Once again points at the large number of extras conceded by his team.
EOIN MORGAN says that at the halfway mark, his team would have to play out of their skins to make a match of this one. Feels that his team played exactly the same way and stresses that this is the best way for his side to play. Feels that this is the strategy England have employed over the last 12 months as they chased some big scores. Reveals that players have to be inventive in the first 6 overs. States that getting a superb start certainly helped. Adds that his team will take a lot of confidence from this win. Reveals that they took positives out of their loss to West Indies too as they hadn't done too many things wrong. Concludes by saying that they played positively in the Windies game too and says that it was one man (Chris Gayle) who took the game away from them. Says that the loss therefore wasn't that big a blow as they hadn't done too many things wrong.
JOE ROOT (MAN OF THE MATCH) says that it's always nice to contribute to a win. States that it's always difficult when they have to chase a huge total like this. Felt that the plan was to attack and then play smartly. Says that getting partnerships was also a key in such a big chase. Feels that the start by the openers made his and other batsmen's job easier. Opines that the breathing space he got from his team's openers allowed him to rotate strike freely. Concludes by saying that the track was an excellent strip to bat on and that the mountain of runs scored tonight is proof of it.
A major heartbreak for South Africa who had posted a massive total earlier in the night. Explosive fifties from de Kock and Amla set it up nicely before Duminy exploded at the end to push the total past the 225-run mark. At the halfway stage, very few would have backed England despite the flat nature of the Wankhede surface. But T20 is an unpredictable format and England's win today has shown us why. England are alive in the tournament but they have areas to improve on, particularly their bowling. SA will be confused after this loss as this is a game they will feel that they should have won.
Root departed in the penultimate over but by then, he had settled the issue. However, England then did make heavy weather of the remaining 11 runs needed although they needed just 1 off the final over. Ali kept his composure to see his team through with 2 balls remaining. Tahir and to an extent Duminy bowled well but all the other South African bowlers were taken to the cleaners. The dew did play a part but it wasn't as difficult as it was in the England-West Indies clash.
What a game of cricket! Phew! Take a bow England for making a historic run chase. In pursuit of a mammoth 230 to win, Roy and Hales were off like a bullet in the initial overs as 44 came off the first 2 overs. Although SA removed Hales, Roy kept going as the required run rate was in control. Stokes and Morgan failed but it was Root's night. What a knock it was from the super-talented lad. His blistering knock virtually sealed the chase with support from Buttler.

ALI SEALS IT! Full and around off, Ali digs it out just over silly mid off as the ball races to the deep. They get the run and celebrations start in the British camp. ENGLAND WIN BY 2 WICKETS.

Kyle Abbott To Moeen Ali OUT!
OUT! ANOTHER WICKET! Yorker outside off, Ali digs it out towards the covers. Confusion in the running as there is a misfield. The ball is parried towards mid off. Good throw comes in from Miller to the non-striker's end as AB collects it to whip off the bails off balance. Willey is sent back late and is way short. 2 in 2 now. Is there is a twist?
They are referring a run out. Willey is the man in question.
DAVID WILLEY is the new man in.

Kyle Abbott To Chris Jordan OUT!
OUT! TOP CATCH! Short ball on off, Jordan gets a top edge on the pull to deep square leg where Duminy goes backward to take a superb catch as he tumbles to the ground. Top catching from JP as England have to wait a bit longer for the celebrations. 1 needed off 5 now.
CHRIS MORRIS to bowl the last over. Just 1 needed for England.

FOUR! MUSCLED AWAY! Full and on off, Ali goes across and drills it past wide mid on to the fence for a boundary. Ali has calmed the nerves in the England dug out with that stroke. Just 7 needed off 9.

Kagiso Rabada To Joe Root OUT!
OUT! Full toss on off, Root steps out to heave it over deep mid-wicket. Doesn't time it well as Miller takes it easily near the ropes. Root asks the umpire if it's a no ball. They go upstairs but the full toss is fine. Root goes after playing a legendary knock. 11 needed off 10 now. A wicket too late for Proteas maybe? You never know in this format.
Root has been caught at deep mid-wicket. They are checking if the full toss is high enough for a no ball.

FOUR! HALF CHANCE GOES DOWN! Short and on off, Root goes for the pull and gets a faint top edge that flies over de Kock who got a glove but it speeds to the fence for a boundary. Replays show that it went off the helmet. England won't mind whichever way it comes as long as the runs come.

FOUR! POOR BOWLING! Full and angled in down the leg side, Root gets a faint deflection past de Kock to the fine leg fence for a boundary. Not the start SA wanted to the over.
