That's it from all of us for this game. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. So Pune take the Maharashtra Derby for now. Will have to wait to see if Mumbai get one back the next time these two sides play. It is a long time away though. Kolkata travel west to play the Gujarat team tomorrow. We look forward to your company. Action begins at 2000 local time (1430 GMT). Until then, it's goodbye and take care!
Man of the Match and Pune skipper, Steven Smith says that Pune is a nice place to bat. Mentions that he always knew that Mumbai would have to go to some spinner or Pollard for the final over so they could target him. Reckons that it is always a good thing to hit two sixes to take your team home. Applauds Imran Tahir for his brilliant spell throughout the match. Praises Hardik Pandya for his clean hitting all round the park. Ends by saying that 180 was a good score and they were always confident of pulling it off.
Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma credits Steven Smith for batting well, mentions Smith continued from where he left. Confesses that the fielding was not good too but since it is a long tournament, they need to stay positive. On playing McClenaghan over Johnson, he admits that the Kiwi has done well in the last few years and hence they picked him. On Jayawardene as the coach, he replies that they are happy as the Lankan brings in a lot of experience.
Earlier in the match, Mumbai posted a good enough total of 184 on the board thanks to the heroics of Hardik Pandya. Mumbai would have known they had less but hung in there all the while thanks to the score. But Pune backed themselves to chase the total and made it count with the skipper leading from the front. The visitors keep their knack of having a bad start to this tournament while Smith has started the campaign on an exciting note.
Smith came in at number 3 and dominated the proceedings once Rahane departed. Stokes played a handy cameo. Rana who dropped the former on 36 would be kicking himself because that changed the tide completely for the visitors. To make things worse, Dhoni was also dropped in the second last over of the match by Southee but that did not cost them much. None of the Mumbai bowlers made an impact as such as the runs kept flowing throughout. It did close towards the end but the fact that Kieron Pollard had to bowl the final over tells you it was not Mumbai's day.
What a finish! Smith has taken his team through on his captaincy debut for Pune. A brilliant knock from the Australian ensured that the hiccups in between could not hamper the end result. Ajinkya Rahane started things off in blazing fashion and always kept the required run rate in check with his sensational 60 in 34 balls.

That's it, the home side win and what a way to start the campaign for them. The Mumbai team is flabbergasted but what a knock it has been from Smith. He finished with a breathtaking 84 in 54 balls! PUNE WIN BY 7 WICKETS!
