Right then! It all started with Sarfraz Ahmed, then went to Azhar Ali and now Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan have been ruthless on this tour as they have stamped their authority in all the three formats. Pakistan management will be the happiest today to say the least. On the other hand, it has been a tough tour for the West Indies as they are still searching for a win. Well, they have a last chance to do so as the third and final Test will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium starting from 30th October, 2016 at 1130 IST. Will Pakistan manage another whitewash? Join us then to find out. Until next time, it's goodbye from us. Cheerio!
Pakistan skipper MISBAH-UL-HAQ begins by thanking the Almighty. Adds that it wasn't easy to take 20 wickets on this wicket and credits the bowlers for raising to the expectations. Calls it a collective performance from the pacers and especially Yasir Shah to step up. Acknowledges that they know how to utilize their resources. Mentions that it is important to learn and improve every day. (On changing the way Pakistan play) Confesses that he does look to get used to the conditions well and then execute their plans. Adds that UAE is too slow and hence grinding the opposition becomes more important. (On going to New Zealand, Australia) He adds that he is looking forward to the tours and Pakistan will have to tweak their game a bit. Credits his bowlers for working hard on such tracks in UAE and hopes that they continue to get better.
West Indies skipper, JASON HOLDER says that they are happy to have taken the games deep (into Day 5) but need to start Tests better. Acknowledges that they did not bat well in the first innings. Adds that they are pleased to see some application from the batsmen. Credits Blackwood for mixing caution with aggression and also mentions that it was good to see Hope fighting it out. Mentions that they have let themselves down with the drops, if they drop chances, good batsmen will make them pay. Credits his team for coming back well on the second day but hopes they can capitalize on crucial moments ahead. Calls Pakistan a very good Test side and ends by saying that West Indies have not been consistent enough.
Man of the Match, YASIR SHAH begins by thanking Almighty for helping him bowl in the right areas consistently. Confesses the wickets in UAE are conducive to his bowling and hence the expectations too are also high. Admits that he did bowl bad balls but worked hard in the nets to get better. Adds that he plans for each and every series and thanks his seniors in Younis, Misbah and bowling coach Mushtaq for helping him along to get better.
On this deck, you got to give credit to the pacers who did bowl their hearts out and in the end it was overall a collective effort from Pakistan. Not to forget that mammoth stand of 175 runs between Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq in the first innings that ultimately set the tone for the hosts. Note for the stat lovers - This is also Pakistan's 10-match winning streak across all formats, a huge achievement in itself. Let's see what the skippers have to say as the presentation is not that far away...
Chasing a stiff target of 456, West Indies did start off well but most of their batsmen threw it away and made the task all the more difficult for themselves. The opener Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood applied themselves on this track but couldn't last long. The latter played a classical innings only to be dismissed on 95 today. The tail in the name of Bishoo and Hope then weaved around for a bit but they were just delaying the inevitable.
The veteran Younis Khan uproots one of the stumps and is running around. Yasir Shah is leading his team to the dressing room and is tossing the cherry proudly. What a moment this is for them! Pakistan have emerged victorious yet again and have sealed the series 2-0. It's almost impossible to beat them in UAE, isn't it? West Indies put in their all but the fight wasn't that convincing one as of the Day/Night Test. Yasir Shah spun the web around the Caribbeans and topped the bowling chart with his fabulous figures, picking up his 2nd 10-wicket haul in the white attire.
