So that's it from us for the night. Bangladesh have stunned one and all by booking a place in the final with India. They have not played their best cricket but are still here. Tonight, they were spectacular but they need to be more than that when they take on the number 2 ODI team on Friday. That match will take place in Dubai on September 28, 2018 at 1530 local (1130 GMT). Hopefully, it is a cracker. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
MUSHFIQUR RAHIM IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. The wicket-keeper batsmen tates that Bangladesh were prepared to lose a couple of early wickets against a quality bowling attack o Pakistan but he and Mithun believed that once the new-ball passage was through, they can get runs in the middle overs. Credits his constant practice for playing strokes consistently and the almighty for helping him keep calm in tough situations.
Victorious Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza, says that tonight they changed the bowling line-up a bit. Normally, he starts but he let Mustafizur take the new ball. Does not quite specify the reason but credits the entire bowling and fielding units. Hopes that his team produces this same performance on Friday in the final. On his flying catch to dismiss Malik, the modest skipper puts it down to luck and states that had he dropped that, Malik would have taken Pakistan home. On their big match against India, Mashrafe states that India are the number 1 team in the world while his own team would be without Tamim or Shakib. But still, they need to give their best and try and win the trophy.
Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed, admits that he is not feeling happy at all. But says that if you do not play well, then you cannot win and takes the blame on himself for not leading from the front. Stressing on the weak aspects, he first points out to fielding, then bowling in the middle overs, not batting well consistently and eventually, spin bowling. On Fakhar Zaman's poor form, he agrees that the opener has been giving them good starts while Shadab and Hasan have been doing well in the middle overs but their batting collapses have hurt them the most. Is proud of the newbie Shaheen Afridi and reckons that it is a good prospect.
Not too long ago, Bangladesh fans were cursing their players after their big loss to India. But they have overcome all those comments and have stormed into the final. The bowling stood up once again, with the young Mustafizur falling just one short of a fifer. But the most underestimated bowlers of the evening - Mehidy Hasan, Mahmudullah and Soumya Sarkar - well, they were the main ones responsible for keeping the lid on the proceedings. Their collective figures were 25-1-85-4 with 82 dot balls. Excellent team performance. Please stay tuned for the presentation to see who gets the Man Of The Match award.
Credit has to be given to Pakistan though. They looked down and out at 94/5 but Imam and Asif staged another recovery. They nearly got the batting side on a path which could have led to victory. However, with 75 needed from 65 balls, Mehidy and Mahmudullah struck in successive overs to send both the set batsmen back and that sealed the chase.
Having kept Bangladesh to 239, the momentum was firmly with Pakistan. However, just like Bangladesh, they were reduced to 3 down in no time. Shoaib Malik and Imam-ul-Haq then tried to revive the innings but a Mashrafe special sent Malik back in the hut.
Comfortable win for Bangladesh. Their fourth in a row in ODIs over Pakistan. Who would have thought that? Right from the start of the tournament, the predictions have been an India-Pakistan final. Now, that script has changed.

Rubel Hossain To Junaid Khan
Full and outside off, Khan hits this down the ground. Initially, he does not run, because he thinks mid off will stop it. But then, the ball goes past the fielder. Now, Junaid does not run, because he thinks he cannot get more than a single. Then, he realizes that probably he can get two. However, by that time, the ball is stopped and Afridi sends him back. So, a dot ball in the end.
