Goodbye for now! A fine win for the Kiwis to carry momentum into the tournament. The wait is nearly over as the T20 World Cup officially gets underway on Saturday, February 7th. The action begins with Pakistan locking horns against Netherlands at 5.30 AM GMT, followed by West Indies versus Scotland, and we end the day with India going against USA. Make sure to tune in a bit early for the toss and the team news. Until then, goodbye, and cheers!
Tim Seifert and Glenn Phillips were brilliant with the bat - Earlier in the game, New Zealand posted a formidable 208/7 fueled by Tim Seifert’s explosive 66 off 31 balls and Glenn Phillips’ rapid-fire 40. The Black Caps dominated from the outset with a fearless Powerplay of 64/1, neutralizing the USA's bowling variations with aggressive stroke play. For USA, Saurabh Netravalkar picked two wickets, while Shubham Ranjane, Mohammad Mohsin, Ali Khan, all picked a wicket apiece.
The Kiwis were tested by the USA batting. New Zealand will be relieved to get the win, even if they were tested more than they expected. Their bowling was good in patches, but it was their ability to break partnerships at regular intervals that made the difference. Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers with his five-wicket haul, supported well by Ish Sodhi and Jacob Duffy. Combined with some excellent fielding, the Black Caps held their nerve to seal the game.
USA fell a few runs short! Despite the recovery, wickets fell at crucial moments to derail the momentum. After Patel's blistering 31 and Mukkamalla's solid 50, the USA were actually well-placed at 94/4 at the halfway mark. Milind Kumar kept the dream alive with some lovely shots, scoring a fighting 43, but he fell in the 17th over. Shubham Ranjane stood up after that and scored a brilliant 41 towards the end. In the end, the task proved just a bit away, and they fell short by just 7 runs.
USA fought well - The USA will be kicking themselves for not crossing the finish line after a truly spirited fight. It was a shaky start to the chase, losing Andries Gous and Shayan Jahangir early, but they found their rhythm through a brilliant counter-attack. Monank Patel and Saiteja Mukkamalla stitched together a rapid 59-run partnership, taking the attack to the Kiwi bowlers and proving they weren't going down without a scrap.

OUT! TAKEN! Matt Henry gets his FIVE-FER. Short of a length, wide outside off, Mohammad Mohsin hangs back and attempts to ramp it, but it's a slower one in disguise. The ball then further flies toward the short third region. Ish Sodhi is the man who gets underneath the skier, settles well underneath, and grabs the catch safely into his hands.
