That's it from us then. We have got our first team who will play the finals and tomorrow we'll come to know who will meet England. The second semifinal between India and West Indies will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Do join us to catch the action at 1900 IST then as it promises to be a thriller. See you then. Cheers!
New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson thinks at the halfway stage they were a bit short. He says they were beaten by a better team today. Credits England as being a dangerous team and adds they showed why they are so dangerous. He says they (New Zealand) missed out on a few shots in the last few overs and those would have been out of the park on some other day. Credits England again.
English captain, Eoin Morgan feels they could have started a bit better with the ball. Adds Williamson batted well. Mentions on this wicket it's a bit hard at the start. Adds 180 would have been a good score on this wicket. Says they have an aggressive brand of cricket in their batting. Credits Roy as he has played well throughout the tournament. Backs his death bowlers. (On his form) He feels it's getting past that one ball. Mentions everyone in the change room have worked really hard. He says when you look back at the West Indies game, it was Gayle who was the difference and since then they only took positives and confidence.
Man of the Match - Jason Roy! He credits his bowling unit for bowling well against a dangerous batting line-up. He says he is lucky his approach came off tonight. He says he felt it was a decent wicket and wanted to get his team off to a good start. Adds sometimes on slower wickets one might not score much in the first 10 balls. Feels all the players in his side have the license to go after the ball. He says he only thinks of scoring runs.
There was a small comeback by the Kiwi bowlers when they removed Roy and Morgan in quick succession but Buttler and Root made sure there are no further hiccups and chased down the total with 17 balls to spare. Sodhi grabbed two wickets but towards the end went for many runs so were his teammates. The Kiwis looked a team to beat in this tournament and today England have handed them a defeat with a good margin. New Zealand got a start with the bat early on but failed to score freely towards the end.
Comprehensive victory for England! They've chased down this total without any trouble to book a seat in the finals of this year's World T20! They got off to a sensational start as Roy came all guns blazing. He played a quickfire 78-run knock off just 44 balls and that almost sealed the game for the Brits!
