Right then, that is all we have from the first ODI of this series. New Zealand go 1-0 up and will be eyeing a series win in the second ODI. Netherlands, on the other hand, need to bring their A-game on the table if they want to level the series in the next game. The second ODI starts at 6.30 am IST (1.00 am GMT) on Saturday, 2nd April. Our coverage, as you know, will start in advance. So do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers.
Pieter Seelaar, the Netherlands skipper, says the spinners bowled quite well and they hanged in there and tried till the end. Adds that the wicket was nice to bat on and they feel like 260 would have been better but tells that it was quite nice to bat out there. Tells that the players were tentative but now they need to shake things off and play better at Hamilton.
Tom Latham, the skipper of New Zealand, says that they want to win every game and adds that boys bowled well after losing the toss and says that it is a clinical finish with the bat as well. He mentions that Blair Tickner was quite good with the ball on his debut and brought great energy and also applauds Young for this knock and its free flowing nature. Tells that though lot of guys are missing there is quite a bit of experience in the dressing room and it is an opportunity for guys to step up.
Will Young is the Player of the Match. Says he is over the moon to score a century for his country. Adds the team is run smoothly by the management and they have to worry about cricket mostly. Tells that it is about taking the opportunity when it comes. About Blair Tickner, he says they had a word early in the morning and both had a great game. Mentions that he has played ODI cricket at no. 3 so he got a chance and he knocked off.
Stay tuned for the presentation.
Well, Netherlands have a lot to ponder about their performance tonight. Michael Rippon and Pieter Seelaar were the only two who showed some fight with the bat while the bowlers too lacked penetration to trouble Kiwi batters. Michael Rippon was the man again who gave Netherlands something to cheer about as he knocked down Henry Nicholls and Ross Taylor with his crafty spin bowling. However, it was little too late and the game was out of their reach till then. Dutch need their top-order to fire as the conditions will most probably remain batting friendly and unless the batters come to the party, it is very hard for Netherlands to get a positive result along the way.
New Zealand suffered an early blow in the chase as Netherlands bowlers got good swing in the initial overs. However, the moment Will Young walked out in the middle, he was at his fluent best. He kept the scoring-rate going and soon Henry Nicholls also found his touch and both of them just kept playing risk-free cricket without much fuss. Young notched up his maiden ODI century on the way as he mixed caution with aggression to a great effect while Henry Nicholls departed after a well-compiled fifty. However, the only disappointment for New Zealand fans will be that Ross Taylor could not finish off the game but overall a very fine performance from the Blackcaps.
A comfortable victory for the Kiwis despite a valiant effort by Michael Rippon both with the bat and ball. The victory though was always on cards, when they restricted Netherlands to 45-5 with the ball and though Netherlands managed to get to a decent score in the end, it was never going to be enough against a strong Kiwi batting lineup.

Michael Rippon To Ross Taylor OUT!
OUT! BOWLED! Through the gate, superb bowling from Michael Rippon! This is tossed up, outside off, this one lands and spins back in sharply. Ross Taylor looks to drive but leaves a big gap and the ball goes through the gate and hits the stumps. Is there something special there for Netherlands?
