So a team which had never lost this season earns its first defeat. Courtesy Chennai's loss, Punjab move up the table to take the provisional pole position while Mumbai go up to 6th, sneaking past Rajasthan. Next stop? Delhi, who hosts Hyderabad. Join us for that game from the Kotla on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 8 pm local (1430 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
HARDIK PANDYA HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH FOR HIS 8-BALL 25 AND 3/20. Feels humbled by the praises being showered on him and is happy to have contributed. On missing cricket, Hardik reminds us that he missed the game for around 7 months and he kept practicing during that time. Adds that it felt nice tonking the ball. Wants to dedicate this award to his family and friends. Stresses that his only focus is to play the Indian T20 League and make sure that India win the World Cup.
Victorious Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma, says that every game is important and after losing 2 games at the start, every match is even more important now. Does not want the headache of needing to win all the games towards the end. Praises his side for being on the money right from ball 1. On getting to 170, Sharma agrees that he did not think that was enough but it was a fighting total. During the break, he thought that if Mumbai could pick up early wickets, they could apply pressure and that is exactly what happened. On Behrendorff and Rahul Chahar, he praises the Aussie for leading the new-ball attack well, giving two wickets which were crucial. On Chahar, he feels sorry for him as the leggie was finding it tough to grip the wet ball and with Dhoni and Jadhav in the middle, he had to take Rahul off the attack and get seamers back on.
Kieron Pollard now comes up for a chat with Kevin Pietersen. Praises the Pandya brothers for doing consistently well. On his catch, he says that he always tries to make a difference at whatever opportunity. On his batting role, Pollard says that it varies according to different situations. On him not bowling, Kieron asks KP to ask that to Rohit Sharma. Says that Mumbai dwell on momentum. Observes that in all the games, they have batted well, scoring above 170. Hopes to take this momentum into the next game against Hyderabad. On Hardik Pandya's long hits, Pollard says that Hardik has a clear mind and hits the ball really hard. Hence, the team keeps encouraging him to keep batting the same way.
Chennai skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni says that quite a few things went wrong for them. Adds that they started well, were on top till the 12th-13th over but after that, the death bowling was not that great. Defends his bowlers as they are ones who rely more on yorkers and do not bowl back of a length. On the team meetings, MS says that they rarely have team meetings. Says further that one needs to assess which were the boundaries that could have been cut off in this game. On the change of momentum during the latter stage of the first innings, Dhoni feels that it does not matter and a team needs to start well with the bat during a run chase. On the upcoming game, MSD says that the pitch will have to be studied and also the fitness of some of the players as Bravo suffered a hamstring niggle in this match.
Mumbai sized up the pitch quite well. They had bowlers who could hit the deck hard and they prospered. Behrendorff struck early with his 2 scalps while Hardik Pandya provided the change in momentum, ripping through the middle order, taking 3 wickets. Towards the end, Malinga helped himself to a couple, finishing with 3 wickets overall.
Watch out for this guy - Jason Behrendorff. He made an impact for Australia against India in his debut T20I, getting Virat Kohli caught for a duck. Here, he made an impact on League debut, getting Rayudu in his opening over and then Raina later on. Being rocked at 33/3, Chennai looked for some stability and Dhoni and Jadhav provided that. But with the required rate mounting, the pressure eventually got to Dhoni and then, the side started to slip. Kedar Jadhav played a lone hand, scoring 58 but nothing much from the rest.
Supreme display of cricket by Mumbai to get to the century-mark in terms of wins. Not quite in the game for 14 overs but then superior quality exhibition in the next 26. Hardik and Pollard's explosion towards the end with the bat left Chennai gasping for breath and then they were choked further by some excellent fast bowling.

Lasith Malinga To Dwayne Bravo OUT!
OUT! Caught down the leg side! That is a delivery from Malinga of the old. Those slinging yorkers. Bravo departs, becoming Slinga's third victim. A firing yorker, outside leg, Bravo is opened up, as he looks to dig it out but all he gets is an inside edge behind. Normally, those run away to the boundary. But not if there is an obstruction named Quinton de Kock. He flings himself to his left acrobatically and takes a stunner. That should be the end of the chase now and Chennai might look at avoiding a massive loss and play out all the 20 overs.

Lasith Malinga To Kedar Jadhav OUT!
OUT! Caught behind! Another one in the coffin. Malinga has his second. A length ball, outside off, Jadhav swings hard but gets a thick outside edge behind. He does not go initially but then de Kock appeals along with the bowler and Tucker sends the batsman on the way. A valiant knock from Jadhav, ran out of partners, poor fellow.
