That is it from this game. A lot of changes in the points table but we will shift our focus to the next game. On the 13th of this month, Punjab will take on Rajasthan. Join us at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) and earlier for the build up. Cheers!
Rishabh Pant, the winning skipper of Delhi says that he is relieved to win this game and says that they will always fight hard. Mentions that there have been phases when they aren't upto the mark and the players will have to take up responsibility themselves. Says that injuries are a big trouble but are working on their playing 11.
Kuldeep Yadav wins the Player of the Match award. He says he wasn't fit and was difficult to see the team struggling but credits the staff for helping him get ready for this game. Adds all the wickets were special. Reckons he is clear with his plan, he executed and was confident. Tells with DRS there is always a chance for the wicket!
...Presentation next...
Jake Fraser-McGurk is up for a chat. He says that he felt good to get his first game in the league. Adds that he focused on finding the connection in the middle of the bat and didn't try to overhit them. Mentions that he will continue to get used to batting out of the powerplay and will come with experience. Says that he is happy to be here and the atmosphere is amazing adds that the experience is surreal during the league.
KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow says that he thinks they were 15-20 runs short after getting a good start and wanted to reach the 180-run mark. Felt that the spinners got help from the pitch and Kuldeep's wickets put brakes on their batting. Mentions that the new guys play really well and credits Jake Fraser-McGurk for batting brilliantly. Adds that the mindset was set to give their best and wanted to take timely wickets. Feels that they were in the game till the halfway mark and then Pant and Jake took the game away from them. Says that they will enjoy themselves during this hectic schedule. Adds that Pooran was sent in early to take advantage of his form against spin. The plan was to create pressure on the opponents and appreciated Kuldeep for getting his wicket. On Mayank Yadav, he says that he is getting better but doesn't want to rush him to play games before the right time.
Credit to Delhi and their bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav is in superb form and continued today as well. His spell was a game-changer. His three wickets of Rahul, Stoinis and Pooran completely shifted the momentum of the game. Delhi gave away a few runs in the back end but the batters did the job eventually. Crucial two points for Delhi.
Lucknow were short of runs. Ravi Bishnoi was the only bowler who tried to do some damage but the others leaked a lot of runs. Lucknow were 100 for 7 at one point. At one point even 120 on the board looked difficult but Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan added around 73 runs to get Lucknow to a decent total. The momentum was with them but the bowlers failed to capitalize and do some damage inside the first six overs.
Two huge points for Delhi as they finally relieve themselves from the bottom place. The batters stood up for them today. It was a disappointing effort against Mumbai but today they batted well. Jake Fraser-McGurk brought a breath of fresh air for Delhi as he along with Shaw batted brilliantly inside the Powerplay. The duo added around 40 runs before Shaw fell. However, then came the match-winning partnership between Jake Fraser-McGurk and the skipper. Jake Fraser-McGurk scored a fifty on his debut and introduced himself to this league by playing some breathtaking strokes. Pant played well too on the other side. Both fell in the final phase of the innings but the job was very well done till then.
