So that's it from us, then. Skipper Kane Williamson led from the front today and inspired his side to a victory. The series is now levelled 1-1 and it's all set up to be a cracker as both teams have positives and will look to take the upper hand. The next encounter will take place in Mohali on 23rd October at 1330 IST. Do join us for it. Till then, this is goodbye and take care!
New Zealand skipper and Man of the Match, KANE WILLIAMSON begins by stating that it is nice to talk about a win after a string of losses. Says the wicket was not an easy one to score quickly. Acknowledges that the bowlers did well to put pressure on India. Adds that they knew they were below par and did not have enough runs to put pressure but they did well despite the dew. Mentions that the two left-arm spinners were brilliant for them which allowed the seamers to be aggressive. Calls it a very good game of cricket and credits India for fighting hard right till the end. (On his ton) Williamson says that he is just happy to contribute as much as he can, does not care if those scores are tons as long as they win. Adds that it was a tough wicket to bat today and is happy they managed to put up a good score. Mentions that the pain in his hands has subsided and is okay now.
India skipper, MS DHONI says it is important especially when you are playing at home (for the crowd to be behind the team). Mentions that they kept losing wickets and that kept hurting them, despite them being in the hunt till the end. Is disappointed that he wasn't able to do more from his end. Adds that he still rues the fact that they kept losing wickets and credits the New Zealand bowlers for bowling well, on a wicket which had uneven bounce. States that there wasn't a lot of dew as the ball wasn't exactly coming on to the bat. Further adds that there will be some game where he will lose the toss and then they will have to play according to the conditions. Applauds his bowlers for doing a fantastic job, especially in the last 20-25 overs as they kept New Zealand under 250.
Hardik Pandya and Umesh Yadav's 49-run stand from 183 for 8 then gave India hope but once again the hosts failed to close the chase out and lost by 6 runs. Every time they had a partnership in the chase, they somehow managed to lose the grip on the game. India will rue the fact it was their game to lose and they had far too many soft dismissals. They will want to address that issue with a lot of youngsters in the team right now.
Chasing 243, India were rocked early when they were 73 for 4 with two of their best ODI players in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in the hut. MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav stitched a 66-run stand to get India back in the game. Once Kedar fell though, India were always losing momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
It was Kane Williamson's crafty century in the first innings that helped them post a fighting total on board. The middle order collapsed for them but the bowlers stepped up and put in a superb effort to level the series. Trent Boult finished with figures of 2/25. He along with Tim Southee, who took 3/52 were the destroyers-in-chief.
What a game! Once again we see how low scoring games can be thrilling ones! New Zealand have put in a fine, fine performance here to register their first win on the tour. They have bowled superbly as a team and will be buoyed with their performance tonight.

Tim Southee To Jasprit Bumrah OUT!
OUT! BOWLED 'EM! AND THE KIWIS HAVE DONE IT! Bumrah had dismissed Southee in similar fashion earlier and now, Tim has returned the favour. He comes running in and fires in a perfect yorker on middle and off. Bumrah tries his absolute best to dig it out but it's just too good for him. The bails are knocked over and India have been bowled out here. NEW ZEALAND WIN THIS MATCH BY 6 RUNS AND LEVEL THE SERIES 1-1!

1
Tim Southee To Umesh Yadav
Low full toss outside off, Umesh Yadav gets low to this one and hits it straight to the man at mid off. Will only get a single and that will bring Jasprit Bumrah on strike, just what the Black Caps want right now.

Tim Southee To Umesh Yadav
Full and on middle and leg, Yadav flicks this through the mid-wicket region. The fielder out in the deep does well to come across and cut it off. Keeps the batsmen down to two. 8 needed off 5 now.
Southee to bowl the final over. 10 needed in 6 balls. Umesh Yadav on strike!

Jasprit Bumrah is the last man in.

Trent Boult To Hardik Pandya OUT!
OUT! THAT'S A BIG WICKET FOR NZ! And that too at such a crucial point. Is this where the Kiwis can clinch it? The entire stadium is silenced. Boult bangs it in short and outside off, Pandya makes room and slaps it over the cover region. He doesn't get a hold ot it though and it's high in the air. Santner settles himself under it and takes a really good catch. 11 still needed off 7 balls.

Trent Boult To Hardik Pandya
Boult fires this in full and on the stumps, Hardik gets an inside edge onto his pads as he tries to dig it out.

Trent Boult To Hardik Pandya
FOUR! He clears the infield and gets the results. Length ball angling in on the stumps, Pandya makes room, clears his front leg and lofts it over mid off to pick up a boundary. 11 needed off 9 now.

Trent Boult To Hardik Pandya
Slower one from Trent Boult. Pitches it up there and well outside off, Pandya lets it be thinking it will be called a wide. He's wrong in thinking so as the umpire is unmoved.

Trent Boult To Umesh Yadav
Back of a length delivery well outside off, a lot of width on offer as Yadav cuts this away down towards third man for a single.
Boult to bowl now. India need 16 runs in 12 balls.

Matt Henry To Umesh Yadav
Back of a length delivery outside off, Umesh punches it straight to the short cover fielder. Pandya however is off for the run but is sent back, in time too. Luckily for him the throw misses but he would have made it anyway.

1
Matt Henry To Hardik Pandya
Matt Henry with an excellent yorker on middle and leg, Pandya is up for it though and he does well to squeeze it out towards mid-wicket for a single. 17 needed off 14 now.

1
Matt Henry To Umesh Yadav
Too straight from Matt, it's a length ball on the pads, Yadav clips it behind square on the leg side for a single.

Matt Henry To Umesh Yadav
FANTASTIC FROM MARTIN GUPTILL! Length ball outside off, Umesh Yadav cuts this past the diving backward point fielder. Seems the ball is destined for the rope but Southee comes running in from third man and puts in a dive at full stretch to keep it in. Save two runs for his side. Brilliant stuff.

1
Matt Henry To Hardik Pandya
Tight line from Matt Henry, bowls it on a length around off, Hardik Pandya doesn't middle it but manages to get this pull through towards deep mid-wicket. The throw is good so the batsmen will just take one.
Henry back on for his final over.

Tim Southee To Hardik Pandya
Length ball tailing in on middle and leg, it's flicked to deep mid-wicket for a single. Hardik Pandya will keep strike. Still need 22 off 18 deliveries.

2
Tim Southee To Hardik Pandya
Length ball around off, Hardik pushes this towards mid off and takes on Kane Williamson there. The Kiwi skipper gets a direct hit at the bowler's end but Hardik was well in. The ball ricochets off the stumps and this allows the Indian batsmen to take another run. Kane looks frustrated with himself.

1
Tim Southee To Umesh Yadav
Saved a certain boundary there! Back of a length on the body, Yadav pulls this hard towards square leg. Ross Taylor is the man there and he does well to go a few paces to his right and stop the ball from going past him. A single is taken however and that brings Hardik Pandya on strike.

Tim Southee To Umesh Yadav
Southee takes the pace off this one and bowls it on a length on off, it's a cutter really as Umesh Yadav is too early into the shot. Tried to push it on the off side for one but fails to do so.
