Six games - four one-sided games and two washouts is how the 2017 Champions Trophy has shaped up so far. The tournament hosts qualifying means that three spots are now left up for grabs. South Africa could inch closer to booking their spot tomorrow if they win their clash against Pakistan at Edgbaston. Let's hope we finally have a close game in this tournament. The day-night game starts at 1330 local, 1230 GMT. Do join us for it. Let's hope the weather stays fine as it's been quite poor in that region. Until next time, it's goodbye from us.
New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson feels that restricting England to 310 wasn't a bad effort although it was a more than a par score eventually. Credits England's bowlers for doing a great job. States that he and Taylor were trying to set a base for the final assault but it didn't pay off. Opines that it was a tough surface for a new batsman to get going. Says that he failed to judge the bounce a bit and so that's how he got out. Accepts that his side's fate is now not in their hands due to the washout against Australia. Hopes that his side can win their last group game and then the other results can go their way.
England skipper, Eoin Morgan says that they were 15-20 runs short at the halfway stage. Reckons that with the batting line-up they have, 300 was par. Mentions that the partnership between Joe Root and Ben Stokes set them the perfect base but they failed to capitalise on it. Informs that they learned from the pitch after batting first. Feels that it was two-paced and the variations worked well for his bowlers. Adds that the fact that they bat till 10 helps them a lot as it boosts the confidence of their top order. Ends by saying that it feels great to reach the semifinals but they do not want to stop there as this group has a lot of potential.
Man of the Match, Jake Ball says that he was just trying to put the ball in the right areas and hoping something to happen. Reckons that in ODI cricket you should be ready to get hit all around the park. Informs that there was a bit of uneven bounce on the wicket which helped them. Ends by saying that they would look to beat the Aussies in the final group game and progress forward with another win under the belt.
England's bowlers were brilliant, especially with the new ball where they executed the plans to perfection. Ball was the standout bowler as his opening spell set the tone for the innings. Plunkett helped himself to another 4-fer as he mopped up the tail to complete a thoroughly professional performance. Earlier in the day, Root along with Hales and Buttler got England to a challenging score that proved too much for NZ.
Another one-sided game in this tournament, we're yet to have a close one. Chasing 311 was going to be tough on a two-paced surface but New Zealand did get some momentum through the Williamson-Taylor partnership after the openers didn't make much impact. However, once the NZ skipper departed, the innings capitulated quite meekly with no real fight whatsoever. In the end, they fell way short of the target.

Liam Plunkett To Tim Southee OUT!
OUT! ENGLAND QUALIFY FOR THE SEMIFINALS! They have lived up to their pre-tournament tag of being favorites. Shortish on off stump, Southee goes for the pull but miscues it high towards deep mid-wicket. Roy in the deep takes the catch with ease. Completes a dominating win for the hosts. They were on top throughout. ENGLAND WIN BY 87 RUNS.

Liam Plunkett To Adam Milne OUT!
OUT! ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST! Back of a length around middle, Milne steps out to go big down the ground but skews it towards mid on. Rashid stationed there goes to his left to take a sharp catch. Another scalp for Plunkett, his third and England now just need a wicket to mop up the game.

Liam Plunkett To Corey Anderson OUT!
OUT! FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR NZ! Anderson looks to go big on the leg side but miscues it high towards deep square leg. Hales settles under the skier comfortably to send the Kiwi all-rounder on his way. That should be the game for England. Not that Anderson or NZ were threatening to gun this down in the recent few overs but for the sake of academic interests.
