Right then! That's all from this game! Delhi continue their winning streak over Chennai. Three wins in their last three games over MS Dhoni's team. Chennai, on the other hand, need to work out what went wrong in this first game. On Sunday, 11th April 2021, Hyderabad go up against Kolkata in Chennai. That match will begin at 1930 IST (1400 GMT). But the build-up will begin much earlier. Till then, cheers and take care.
Shikhar Dhawan, the MAN OF THE MATCH says that he really enjoyed his batting and he was happy for Shaw who played some brilliant shots. Adds that it was important to give the team a good start and he is happy with his performance. Tells that he enjoys taking up the challenge of improving his game. States that he still was playing the ball close to his body as the pitch was sticky and he was confident and he was sticking to his game plan. Adds that it is tremendous to watch Shaw bat when he is in form and he is happy for him as he has worked hard after the last tournament. Goes onto say that his favourite catch in this game was Moeen Ali's as that was a tough catch.
Rishabh Pant, the Delhi skipper, says that it was good and he was under pressure in the middle phase while bowling but the bowlers did well to restrict Chennai. Goes onto say that it was special for him to captain his first match in the Indian T20 League against MS Dhoni. Tells that they were thinking about missing the services of Nortje and Rabada for this game and the performances of Woakes and Avesh Khan gives them a good headache while selecting the team for the next match. States that these are early stages in the tournament and they are not thinking about the net run rate. Tells that Shaw and Dhawan played really well and they played proper cricket shots.
Prithvi Shaw is down for a chat. He says that he is feeling good about contributing for the team and says that they got a good start. Adds that the wicket was better to bat on during the second innings. About his technique, Shaw says that after getting dropped from the Indian team during the tour of Australia, he started working on the change in his technique and also spent time with Pravin Amre before the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
MS Dhoni, the Chennai skipper, says that dew was a factor that they had in their mind before the game started. Adds that the batters did a good job once the dew had settled in. About the bowling, Dhoni says that they didn't execute their plans to perfection and gave away a few boundary balls. Further adds that they sent Moeen Ali early to score quick runs along with Suresh Raina. Finishes by saying that it is a good pitch, and once the first half and hour is done, runs can be scored with ease.
Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony!!!
Earlier, in the day, Chennai posted 188 on the board, courtesy a fine knock from Suresh Raina and with valuable contributions from Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu and brilliant hits from Sam Curran towards the end. For Delhi, Avesh Khan was the star and he was well supported by Chris Woakes. Tom Curran and the spinners were punished but in the end, the target did not prove to be enough as Delhi chased it down with 8 balls to spare.
Chennai will be very disappointed! They did a decent job with the bat but with the ball, they were thrashed. Dwayne Bravo was the only bowler to come out with decent figures but everyone else took a pounding. Thakur did pick up two wickets but he went for plenty of runs. Deepak Chahar too was expensive while Curran bowled two costly overs as well. They were not helped by their fielding as they dropped a couple of catches which proved very costly. They had a disappointing outing but this is just the start of the tournament and they are capable of making a comeback.
Delhi were absolutely breathtaking in their run chase! Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw started off in fine fashion. They were going all guns blazing in the Powerplay and they did not stop there as they continued on from there and were hitting the ball to all parts of the ground. Prithvi Shaw was a little lucky but some of his shots were incredible and it was amazing to see him bat like this. Dhawan continues to have a love affair with Chennai. He scored a century against them in the last edition and has continued that form in this season as well with a fine knock. He fell towards the end but Pant stayed to finish things off. Overall, an incredible performance.
A comprehensive win for Delhi! They have made a mockery of the target as they chased down the target comfortably. A complete performance and they have begun their campaign with a bang. Just brilliant. Chennai, on the other hand, have a lot to think about as they have been absolutely hammered. Delhi will be a very pleased unit.

Shardul Thakur To Shikhar Dhawan
FOUR! Shot! Full ball, wide outside off. Dhawan creams it past covers for a boundary.
Strategic Time-Out! Delhi are cruising along despite losing Shaw. They need just 31 runs in 24 balls and with Dhawan still going strong and Pant for company. it should be a walk in the park for them but in the Indian T20 League, we have seen funny things happen and we cannot count that out. Chennai need something special if they want to pull this off. Where can they find the inspiration? Can they make a comeback in the final 4 overs? We will find out. Shardul Thakur is back on. 2-0-31-0 are his numbers so far.
