Ireland beat West Indies by 2 wickets
We're back! The series is on the line. West Indies regroup near the boundary line before spreading on the field. Glorious conditions, the sun is shining brightly and the conditions looking ripe for batting. Paul Stirling and William Porterfield are the Irish openers. Alzarri Joseph with the first new ball. Here we go...
... THE CHASE ...
Ireland didn't start well with the ball but made a resounding comeback. Every time their players were heard shouting that West Indies lose wickets in a clumps and that's what eventually happened. Craig Young and Andy McBrine were the cornerstones of their bowling attack and the latter, in particular, was too hot to handle on a surface that was offering good grip and bounce. The Irish team would have loved to bundle out West Indies under 200 and had the opportunity to do so as well but they dropped Jason Holder in the 34th over and he along with Akeal Hosein added another 36 runs after that missed chance. Will that come back to haunt Ireland? We will find out shortly.
It's almost a carbon copy batting from West Indies. Kieron Pollard lost the toss yet again and his team was invited to bat first on a surface that had moisture in it. The start although was bright and breezy for West Indies as Shai Hope batted ultra aggressively. The hosts managed 69 runs in Powerplay 1 but then it all went pear-shaped. The wickets started to tumble at a rate of knots and West Indies slipped from 72/0 to 119/7 in no time. The 63-run partnership between Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein helped the home team avoid embarrassment and now they have at least a fighting total on the board.
Good recovery in the end from West Indies but still, it's a sorry batting card for them. Once again they failed to bat out their full quota and have managed a below-par total. Ireland would be happy with their performance in the field and they would have taken this target on any day.

Josh Little To Jason Holder OUT!
OUT! Run out! A sad end to this promising partnership for West Indies. Slightly short in length, around middle, Holder tucks it to deep mid-wicket and takes a single. He is eager for the second run and calls his partner through. Jason uses his long legs to march towards the keeper's end but before that Gareth Delany fires in a perfect throw to Neil Rock who does the rest. They appeal and then start to celebrate. The third umpire is referred and one replay is enough to give Holder out. Way outside the crease. End of a good knock.

OUT! Shepherd holes out! Flighted and full around off, Romario decides to take on Dockrell and aims to send this delivery into the stands at long on. His connection though is not proper and Mark Adair runs across to his right in the deep to claim the catch easily. With so many overs left, this was a reckless shot selection. Andy McBrine To Kieron Pollard OUT!
OUT! That's a sensational one-handed grab from William Porterfield and Kieron Pollard's misery at the crease is put to an end. Andy McBrine gets his third in the match and continues to have a good time in West Indies. He delivers it on that in-between length that confuses the batsman. Neither too short nor too full. Around off, turning back in with some extra bounce. Pollard hangs back and attempts to tickle it around the corner. But it takes the inside half and goes quickly to leg slip. William Porterfield shows great reflexes as he sticks his right hand out to catch it. West Indies have now lost half their side and staring down the barrel.

Andy McBrine To Shamarh Brooks OUT!
OUT! Dead plumb! West Indies are digging a hole for themselves. Andy McBrine gives this one a good toss and lands the off spinner around off. It kisses the deck and spins back in, Shamarh Brooks decides to go deep inside the crease and pull it across the line but misses. He is struck on the back pad, they appeal and the finger goes up immediately. Sitting duck. Should have been forward, Brooks. The hosts have lost their in-form batter. In dire straits now.
Drinks break. The template has remained the same for West Indies in this series. They start decently with the bat but then lose the plot after the 10th over mark. Shai Hope was sensational during his stay but got carried away with his quickfire knock and played one shot too many. His partner Justin Greaves once again fell driving loosely at a delivery. Ireland have done well to get back in the contest after a sorry start. Let's see how the middle phase pans out.

OUT! LBW! Need a wicket? Call Andy McBrine! He carries his form from the previous game! What a peach of a delivery! Nicholas Pooran fails once again. A loopy ball, landing around leg and then spinning towards off. Nicholas Pooran leans across to flick but misses. It beats his bat and goes on to rap him on the back pad. The ball lobs to Stirling who catches it at first slip and Ireland start appealing. The umpire thinks and thinks before raising his finger. Pooran perhaps thinks that he is given out caught and reviews straightaway. But as it turns out, the appeal was for an lbw and the DRS finds everything adjacent. Pooran will have to depart.

OUT! CAUGHT! Ireland have got the breakthrough! Shai Hope departs after a gem of an innings! Craig Young picks up the first wicket! Change of length this time, a shorter one, around off. Shai Hope pulls this towards deep backward square leg. He gets all the elevation but no distance as it came off the top edge. Josh Little runs to his left from fine leg and takes a sharp tumbling catch.

Thank God, Sheldon Cottrell's car is not parked there today. The ball returns from the stand and it seems there is some damage done. Nopes, the umpire is only sanitizing it.

Time to get underway. The players from both sides are in the middle as they take the knee to show their support against racism. Shai Hope and Justin Greaves are ready to open the innings for West Indies. Josh Little has the first new ball in hand. Here we go...
PITCH REPORT - Jeff Dujon says that it's bright today and the pitch looks the same as the previous games. Adds that there is a nice covering of grass and also there is a bit of moisture, which means the team batting first will have to be cautious in the beginning and capitalize at the end.
After losing three tosses in a row, Kieron Pollard, the captain of West Indies, says that toss is always 50-50 but right now it's 100-0. Adds that you have to adjust to the conditions as there will be moisture early on. Feels that they have done well in the first 10 overs but struggled after that. Wants his boys to dig a bit deeper and get the job done. Tells that they have practised hard on their fielding and admits that they are still a work in progress. Mentions that they have to be sharp in this match as it's all to play for. Informs that they are also going with the same XI.
Paul Stirling, the captain of Ireland, says that they are fielding first and want to do the same process. Feels the pitch has not changed from the last game. Tells that they have not played their best game yet and hopes to put up a neat performance in this match. Wants his bowlers to get disciplined and work on the extras. On his personal form, Paul is happy to get some time in the middle in the last match. Informs that they are going unchanged.
West Indies (Unchanged Playing XI) - Shai Hope (WK), Justin Greaves, Nicholas Pooran, Shamarh Brooks, Kieron Pollard (C), Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein.
Ireland (Unchanged Playing XI) - Paul Stirling (C), William Porterfield, Andy McBrine, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Neil Rock (WK), Mark Adair, Craig Young and Josh Little.
TOSS - Up goes the coin and it lands in favor of Ireland. They have elected to BOWL first.
Ireland, on the other hand, will be coming into this game a little high on confidence after winning the previous contest. Andy McBrine has been their star performer as he has displayed his magic with the bat and with the ball. Harry Tector too has been impressive after scoring half-centuries in both the games and made the middle order strong. Although Craig Young and Josh Little have been doing well with the ball, they have leaked runs towards the end and will try not to repeat the same. Paul Stirling will continue to lead the side in this big game and will be hoping to emerge victoriously. An exciting match coming your way! Stay tuned for the toss and team news.
The hosts did exceedingly well to win the first match, they were exceptional with the ball, however, they were not able to replicate the same in the rain-affected second ODI. In both the games, West Indies put up a decent total, but the likes of Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran have not been at their best at the top order and they will need to step up in this decider to provide West Indies with the desired start. Romario Shepherd and Odean Smith have been doing a fine job and they will be hoping to continue their sublime form. We could see West Indies coming into this game unchanged.
Hello and a warm welcome to the third and the final ODI of this intriguing series between West Indies and Ireland. After all the postponements due to Covid, it is time for the decider of the series which is firmly poised at 1-1. We can expect both teams to perform at their best to clinch the series and grab valuable points at the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Unlike the second ODI, the weather for today seems clear and there are low possibilities of rain.
