Latham was in control against the spinners but fell to Prabath Jayasuriya, who claimed his first wicket when Latham was caught off a top edge while attempting a sweep. Williamson played positively, remaining unbeaten on 40. Both, Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson fell to Dhananjaya de Silva but Mitchell and Blundell have done well to end the day without losing anymore wickets.

The Lankan bowlers had to toil hard, there was not a lot on offer for them from the wicket but their bowlers weren't at their best too. The wicket though has started playing tricks now and they'll hope their bowlers can take advantage of it. That wicket of Latham will give them a lot of confidence. Can they take control of the game after the break? We will find out. Join us for the last session in a bit.
The Kiwis did lose Latham right towards the end but they'll be pretty pleased with where they are in the game at the moment! Yes, they would have loved to be just the one down at the end of the break but credit to them for the way they batted throughout the session. First Conway and Latham put up a good stand. Conway fell but Latham continued. He scored a fine half ton. Williamson too is going along well. Just as it seemed the Kiwis would enter the break just the one down, they lost Latham towards the end. They'll now hope the batter coming in can continue the good work and they can pile on another good stand.
