Peshawar Zalmi beat Quetta Gladiators by 76 runs
That is it! A crucial win for Zalmi. Quetta though will look to get better in the next game. Time for Karachi Kings to take on Lahore Qalandars. Join us on the 9th of this month at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) and earlier for the build up. Cheers!
Babar Azam says they were happy with the score they got, they batted well but could have looked for 210-220. Adds this was a complete performance and even the bowlers were outstanding, they executed the plans and the fielding was superb too. On his coaching staff, they communicate and try to give an edge during the play. Sammy always shows his experience and he always helps him. Ends by saying they want to win the finals.
Saim Ayub wins the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He says he is working hard with the ball and is enjoying the success. Adds in his batting, he is not able to convert it into big scores. Shares it's important to put pressure initially and later to play with the flow. On Azam, he is opening with Babar from last year and feels lucky to play with him.
Rilee Rossouw says they are not able to execute the plans with the bat despite it being a good pitch. Adds 200 was an average score but unfortunately the batters didn't step up. Shares he wasn't aware of Hosein's hat trick, he was thinking of next over but he is glad to have him in his side. Reckons they need to clear their mind and hopes to turn things around in the next match.
...Presentation...
The problem for Quetta was yet again the middle order. It failed big time again. A sorry scorecard chasing a big total. Just the one batter managed to cross 20 and that doesn’t help when chasing a big total while the others got off to a start but perished one after the other. Earlier, it was once again Babar Azam for Zalmi. His fifty and cameos from Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Rovman Powell turned out to be enough while Akeal Hosein's hat trick went in vain.
That’s a massive win for Peshawar and they are through to the next round. That innings from Powell at the end was very crucial and close to 200 was always going to be tough. Quetta though got off to a good start. Once they lost Shakeel, it all fell apart. They kept losing wickets. The middle order failed big time. The bowling effort was a combined one from Zalmi. All their bowlers got a wicket at least.
