Inn Break
Right then, the first game of a doubleheader Sunday is done and it is Mumbai who have been fourth-time lucky rather than third-time lucky and now every team has at least one win under their belt. The second match has already started and it is Lucknow batting first against Gujarat in Lucknow. You can simply switch tabs and follow our coverage of that game. Cheers!
Romario Shepherd is the Player of the Match with his stellar cameo with the bat and exploits with the ball as well. Romario says that his hard work paid off and the coach gave him the chance to express himself and so did the skipper. Adds that in situations in which he came out to bat, you can't think much and need to keep a clear mind. Mentions that he pre-meditated one shot and says that he tries to keep it 50-50 with his batting and his bowling and ends by joking that his power comes from food.
Hardik Pandya the skipper of Mumbai says that it was a lot of hard work and they had the right intent and it all went well this game. Adds that with Suryakumar Yadav back in the side there will be just a couple of tactical changes but the team looks well settled. Mentions that the belief and backing in the camp is great and they just needed one win. Appreciates the opening batters and everybody else who are chipping in when it is needed. Says that Romario Shepherd's inning won them the game and he is extremely proud of the way he batted. Concludes that everything was covered well and that's why he didn't have to roll over his arms.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, after having been put into bat first, Mumbai set the stage for victory with a blistering batting display right at the start and then at the death as well. The openers scored 75 runs in the first 6 overs with Rohit Sharma in devastating form. However, neither openers could get to their fifties and skipper Hardik Pandya had to play an anchoring knock. It was Tim David who reignited the flame in the death overs with a quickfire knock and then Romario Shepherd just took things up a notch in the final over, hammering 4 sixes and a couple of 4s to take Mumbai to 234 runs. With the ball, Axar Patel bowled a tight spell and got wickets and made things happen in the field as well. Khaleel Ahmed and Jhye Richardson were just about decent but Anrich Nortje fumbled big time and he will certainly have a few nightmares of that 20th over that he bowled. In replay, Delhi batted well in patches and a couple of players stood out but Mumbai had the edge.
Ishan Kishan is now down for a quick chat. He says that they played to their potential and this is what they are capable of and got the result they were looking for. Adds that he has played a lot here and mentions that it does get tough for batting after the first 6 overs which makes the Powerplay very important in terms of batting. On Romario Shepherd, he says that he was working very hard in the nets and they are aware of his power and he delivered. Ends by saying that he is feeling good.
Rishabh Pant the skipper of Delhi says that they were in contention but feel they could not capitalize on the powerplay and with mounting pressure and the run rate over 13-14 runs it gets hard to cope. Adds that one over here and there can change the moment for the side and they can either blame that or get better at it. Talks about the deck and says that the slower ones were sticking a bit but was a good track to bat on. Concludes that they will look to improve on making the most of the Powerplay and the death bowling going ahead.
Delhi will eventually feel that they could have actually ended up on the winning side even after that final over where Anrich Nortje conceded 32 runs but it was the Powerplay with the bat that was equally disappointing. The openers failed to pick the pace of the pitch early on and Warner fell early. Prithvi Shaw and Abishek Porel stitched together a 88-run stand but they were always behind the eight-ball by then. Both Shaw and Porel played valiant innings but it was yet again Tristan Stubbs who just looked settled from ball one and played an unreal knock of 71 runs off just 25 balls and even remained unbeaten. He didn't get the strike at all in the final over and he would have looked to lessen the margin of defeat which was disappointing for him. Overall, Delhi need to buck up as they still have just the single win.
MUMBAI ARE FINALLY OFF THE MARK! Now that was an entertaining game and Tristan Stubbs almost pulled the rabbit out of the hat for Delhi but it just wasn't meant to be and Mumbai always had a few too many runs on the board. Mumbai had the runs on the board and got a brilliant start with the ball as well. The pacers didn't allow the opposition batters to get off to a flier and half the game was won inside the Powerplay itself as they saw the back of David Warner as well. They then faced a stern resistance for the second wicket partnership but Jasprit Bumrah had his say by crushing the leg stump of Prithvi Shaw and Mumbai yet again got back on top. They did get hit for boundaries here and there but managed to pick up wickets and Bumrah's highly economical spell of 2 for 22 runs was the difference-maker. Gerald Coetzee picked up three wickets in the final over to end the game with 4 wickets overall and there's a huge sense of relief among the Mumbai players.

Romario Shepherd To Axar Patel OUT!
OUT! RUN OUT! That's lazy and sloppy from Axar Patel and Delhi lose half their side. Romario Shepherd bowls this on a length and into the stumps, Axar Patel wacks it to the right of mid on and sets for the second run. The fielder Mohammad Nabi collects the ball and throws it back to the keeper, Ishan Kishan who knocks the bails off with Axar Patel falling well short of the crease as he was slow on the second run and wasn't expecting the throw to come to his end.
Is that out? Oh, dear! Axar Patel has been foxed by the keeper here and that is a smart piece of glovework from Ishan Kishan. It is sent upstairs and the replays show that Axar was out of his crease and mostly it was his laziness that got him out. OUT comes up on the board.

An appeal for LBW and the umpire turns it down! Hardik Pandya sends it upstairs for the review. Gerald Coetzee steams from around the wicket and bowls a fuller delivery on middle and leg, Tristan Stubbs gets across the line and looks to scoop it over but misses out as the ball sneaks through the bat and clips him low on the pad. The ball rolls away to the off side and the batters cross. The replays roll in and the UltraEdge confirms that there was no inside egde. The BallTracking shows that the pitching was outside off and the impact was outside leg. The onfield call stays and it is called as legbyes!
Half an appeal for LBW by the bowler and the keeper also thinks there's something in it and Hardik Pandya does take the review. The replays roll and it looks to be outside off stump and UltraEdge first confirms that there's no bat on it. Ball Tracking does show that the impact was indeed outside off stump. NOT OUT!
The skipper of Delhi, Rishabh Pant walks out to bat at number 5 with his side needing 91 runs off 30 balls.

With 97 more runs needed off the last 6 overs, Delhi do have wickets in hand which evens out the equation. Mumbai will have to tighten the flow of runs from the other end while Jasprit Bumrah continues to show his magic. A brilliant finish to this exciting game is set to unfold. Hurls this on a length, outside off, Prithvi Shaw gets on his toes and reaches out to cut it to deep point for a single.
Strategic break! Well, then Delhi have finally started to show some fight but could it already be too late? They have wickets in hand but not much experience in the batting and Mumbai have bowled pretty well so far. Romario Shepherd has done the damage and with still 3 overs of Jasprit Bumrah left, Delhi will need a big stand in the middle phase to give them a chance in the death overs.
