Dominance through the session - The scoring rate was good from the J&K batters throughout the session, with them scoring at will, while not letting anything get past their compact defense as well. They balanced aggression with technical soundness, punishing the loose deliveries while respecting the good ones. This clinical approach ensured that no late drama would unfold, keeping the momentum firmly in their favor. Only formalities remain between Jammu and Kashmir and the much-coveted trophy now. The dream that seemed distant for decades is now just a few hours away from becoming a reality. We will be back with what could well be the final session of this season's Ranji Trophy at 12.40 pm IST (7.10 am GMT), provided the handshakes at the end of it.
Karnataka accepts their fate - Right from the onset, it did not look like Karnataka even tried to turn the tables, as they had calculated that this had gone far from their reach. There was a visible lack of intensity in the field as the former champions struggled to find a breakthrough. The body language of the players suggested a side that had reconciled with the result long before the session reached its conclusion. First signs of throwing in the towel were the way Karnataka started with the ball and did not bring on their premier pacers, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Prasidh Krishna, into the attack, accepting their fate. By holding back their primary weapons, the bowling side allowed the game to drift, signaling a tactical surrender. This decision made the task significantly easier for the set batters to dictate terms.
The century and the support - Qamran and Sahil added to their overnight scores with Qamran getting past the magical three-figure mark, anchoring the innings, while Sahil complemented him perfectly by racing his way to a score in the 80s before the break. Their partnership effectively blunted the opposition and ensured that Jammu and Kashmir maintained total control over the flow of the game.
A historic threshold - On a day when history was bound to be created with Jammu and Kashmir on the cusp of etching their name in history by winning the Ranji Trophy for the first time, they have batted like a champion side yet again. The pressure of a final day did little to rattle the composure of the batting unit, which has remained firm throughout this summit clash. Every run scored brought the team closer to a monumental achievement, reflecting a season of grit and newfound dominance in the domestic circuit.

One hand on the trophy! In the final session, the Karnataka team looked tired, and their body language suggested they had accepted defeat. Their bowlers just went through the motions, bowling harmless deliveries outside the leg stump. Although Abdul Samad threw his wicket away by trying to play an unnecessary shot, J&K remained firmly in charge. By stumps, J&K's lead swelled to a towering 477 runs, with opener Qamran Iqbal anchoring the innings and remaining unbeaten on 94.
Steady partnership frustrated Karnataka - After the Lunch break, Karnataka bowlers tried hard but failed to maintain their pressure. Qamran Iqbal and veteran Paras Dogra built a solid partnership to steady the innings. Qamran survived a massive scare when a delivery hit his stumps, but the bails magically did not fall. Prasidh Krishna finally dismissed Dogra to give Karnataka a much-needed breakthrough, but J&K reached Tea safely at 89/3, extending their lead.
