Gujarat Titans beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs
Okay then, that wraps up this clash in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans take two very crucial points with their seventh win this season, which shoots them up to the second spot. For SRH, their playoff hopes have almost been extinguished and they will have to win all their remaining games. Now then, we head into another weekend in the Indian Premier League 2025, and up next is a generational clash as two of the biggest stars of Indian cricket will be up against each other. It is round two as Royal Challengers Bengaluru host the Chennai Super Kings in a mouth-watering clash at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium of Bengaluru. While it is all over for CSK this season, a lot is at stake for RCB to stay glued in the upper echelons of the points table. The first ball is scheduled to be bowled on Saturday, 3rd May, at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). But do make sure to mark your presence for all the exciting pre-match build up and analysis. Take care, cheers!
Prasidh Krishna of Gujarat Titans wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH award. He collects the award and also receives the Purple Cap as he now becomes the leading wicket-taker in the season so far. He says he is happy that they won. On his bowling improvement, he feels that his control over his lines and lengths has been good this season, and the support staff has been really helpful. Adds that on the game day, he highlights to watch every ball of the first innings if they're bowling second, he tries to take all that he can from that. He adds that he keeps on chatting with the experienced players around and then goes on to hit the right areas. On his England tour preparations, he says he has got a red ball in his room, but he first looks to finish this tournament well and then think about what's in the future.
The victorious skipper of Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill, walks up for a chat. He says that the conservation was to play their natural game. Adds that it's not easy to hit sixes on black soil, but he, Sai, and Buttler knows how to keep the scoreboard ticking. Tells they are very hungry to score runs and do what's best for the team. Mentions that as a team, their fielding hasn't been the best, he was very happy with the efforts in this game. Says that everyone is chipping in nicely, and it is nice to have options. Ends by saying that he was having a bit of a discussion with the umpire, and when so many emotions are involved, you are bound to show some on the field.
It is time for the Presentation ceremony...
Jos Buttler of Gujarat Titans is next up to chat. He calls it a great team performance from the team in all three departments. Appreciates Rashid Khan for that brilliant catch to see the back of Travis Head, and feels that set the tone for them. Adds the guys in the top order have been in a tremendous form and says their openers play traditional cricket, but play some amazing shots. On Sai Sudharsan, he says that Sai has a mature head on his shoulders and the way he understands the game is just brilliant. Says to come out every day and put in hard work is not that easy. On Prasidh Krishna, he says he does the basics right and bowls on great lines. Adds that he uses his bouncer and yorker very well. Further points that fielding has been a big improvement for them. On their next match, he says that the Mumbai Indians are in great form and it is always great to play at the Wankhede.
The captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pat Cummins, says that they were not that great with the ball in the Powerplay and gave away 20-30 runs extra. Add that he is probably as guilty as anyone and they should have held onto a couple of catches, and again takes the blame. Mentions that the GT batters are class, they do not do anything outlandish but if you bowl bad balls, they will put them away. Says that it was a really good wicket and going for 140 in 14 overs, was a decent job by the entire bowling unit. Further adds that Abhishek batted nicely, and Head also gave them a good start, but they left a little too much for the batters. Tells that it is unfortunate that they are in this position, but they still have some hope to cling to. Says that it is amazing to play at this venue, and there were no empty seats. Ends by saying that this is the first season after the mega auction, and the core will remain for the next three years, so they still have a lot to play for here.
Earlier in the game, the ever-consistent opening pairing of the Titans came out firing when sent in to bat, with Sudharsan and Gill making SRH's bowlers look ordinary as they peppered the boundary. After a 87-run opening stand, Jos Buttler came in and formed a solid partnership with Gill and they added 62 runs together, totally dominating the mid over phase. Despite Gill getting out, Buttler kept on striking boundaries at regularity, and with some crucial cameos towards the end, GT managed to put on 224 on the board. Once again, the top three of the Titans scored the bulk of runs, as many as 188 runs were scored by the top three, with fifties from Gill and Buttler each. SRH bowlers were taken to the cleaners and their sloppy fielding didn't help their cause either. Jaydev Unadkat was the most successful bowler, chipping in with a three-for, all coming in the final over of the first innings.
A critical factor separating the two teams was their contrasting fielding quality. GT displayed exceptional commitment in the field, with players consistently diving and putting their bodies on the line to save runs and create pressure. SRH, by comparison, appeared noticeably sluggish and imprecise in their fielding efforts, leaking valuable runs through misfields and dropped catches.
Despite Abhishek Sharma's valiant efforts to maintain momentum, those stagnant middle overs ultimately came back to haunt SRH. The wheels completely fell off when both Abhishek and the big-hitting Klaasen departed in rapid succession, snuffing out any remaining hope. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj returned for devastating new spells, grabbing control of the match and dismantling SRH's middle order with two wickets apiece. The collapse was dramatic and decisive as SRH plummeted from a fighting 139/2 to a disastrous 145/6, which put the curtains on their chase.
Once the field restrictions eased, GT's bowlers immediately tightened the screws. SRH managed just 29 runs in the next four overs with a measly output of only two sixes and a four till the 10th over, also losing Ishan Kishan along the way. The batting momentum that had promised so much during the Powerplay suddenly evaporated.
Known for crushing massive targets like their 240-plus chase earlier this season, SRH's openers Head and Abhishek, wasted no time launching their assault on GT's pace attack with some crisp boundary shots. The dangerous partnership had GT sweating until Prasidh Krishna got the breakthrough, thanks to Rashid Khan's spectacular diving catch. Despite losing a crucial wicket, SRH still powered to an impressive 57/1 by the end of the Powerplay.
A job well done by Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad as they get back to winning ways. Failed to defend 209 in the previous game against RR, they have roared back in style and have outclassed Sunrisers Hyderabad in all three facets of the game. This marks SRH's seventh defeat this season and their playoff hopes get another blow. They can still reach a max of 14 points, but they will have to win all games remaining from here. Their journey, of course, gets more and more difficult from here as they remain stuck in the second-to-the-bottom of the table, with only 6 points.

Back of a length and on middle and leg. Heinrich Klaasen shuffles across to play the scoop but only manages to get a thin inside edge behind, where Jos Buttler makes no mistake. Ishant Sharma To Abhishek Sharma OUT!
OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! The writing seems to be pretty much on the wall here for SRH with Abhishek's departure now! Ishant corrects both line and length now, a back-of-a-length delivery, on the leg stump line, just lifting bit more off the deck. Abhishek Sharma clears the front leg and attempts to sail the ball behind deep mid-wicket with a pull shot, but loses his shape a bit and it is a bit too close to the body to play that shot. Ends up hitting it off the toe-end of the bat. Mohammed Siraj runs in forward from the deep and takes a fine low catch. Abhishek Sharma departs for a fine knock of 74 from 41 deliveries. SRH are 139/3, needing another 86 runs to win, from 30 balls.

Lands it fuller and on off, Heinrich Klaasen heaves it off the inner half of the bat, to long on for only a single.
Strategic Break! Gujarat Titans are on top of this game and will be confident of closing it out. Their bowlers have been very good so far, and unlike SRH, the fielders have backed them up nicely. They know that the pressure is on the batters and they will have to take risks that will create opportunities for them. Sunrisers Hyderabad needs someone to play a blinder, and a lot will rely on this pair of Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, as they do have the ability to hunt this down, but it will not be easy at all with no dew on the outfield. Also, Shubman Gill has gone off the field, and Anuj Rawat comes in as the substitute fielder. Ishant Sharma to bowl after the break.

Halt! It looks like Abhishek Sharma has hurt his toes while playing the previous ball and is getting some treatment from the physio. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill is in a heated discussion with the umpire. He is clearly not happy with the explanation given by the umpires and walks back to his position.

Fires in a yorker, at the boots, does Krishna. Abhishek shuffles a bit towards the off stump, and tries to whip it over the leg side, but the ball passes close to the inside edge and hits his front toe before rolling into the leg side. Abhishek calls for a run and Klaasen obeys his partner. With no one inside the circle there, Krishna gets to the ball and throws it to the bowler's end, but misses to hit the stumps at the bowler's end. Abhishek reaches home safely. However, a review is taken by Gill for LBW. There is no bat involved as per the third umpire. The Ball Tracking shows that the ball is crashing into the leg stump, but its impact is on the umpire's call on the leg stump line. NOT OUT and they will get a leg bye.

Gerald Coetzee To Ishan Kishan OUT!
OUT! TAKEN! Gerald Coetzee strikes! He pitches it up and around off, Ishan Kishan steps across to slog it to the leg side but loses his shape completely. The ball takes the leading edge and flies towards third man where Prasidh Krishna moves a bit to his right and takes it nicely with a reverse cup while sliding across. An animated celebration from Coetzee as he gets his first wicket. SRH are 82/2 now, still needing 143 runs in 63 balls.

Great teamwork in the deep! Pitched up and on off, Abhishek Sharma looks to loft it over mid off but mistimes it high up in the air but well over the fielder. Mohammed Siraj chases after it and gets his fingertips on it to slow its momentum as he himself runs into the ropes. His traveling partner, Shubman Gill, shows good game awareness, as he comes in flying in and dives to stop it from touching the ropes. Three runs taken. All this to save one run, which, indeed, can make a lot of difference in the end.

Gerald Coetzee To Ishan Kishan
On a length and on off, Ishan Kishan pushes it towards covers for a single.
Strategic Break. It has been a positive start in the chase for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but having lost Travis Head inside the restrictions, they have just managed to score 13 in the last two overs. Both, Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma will look to make sure that they don't get bogged down much and score runs freely to keep the asking rate in the approachable territory. Whereas, a wicket or two for GT will really put them in the driver's seat here. It was in the middle over phase where Gujarat Titans really accelerated. And now then, Gerald Coetzee is introduced into the attack right after the break. He replaces Mohammed Siraj.

Prasidh Krishna To Travis Head OUT!
OUT! LAUNCHED INTO THE AIR, AND TAKEN! WHAT A SUPERB CATCH FROM RASHID! Travis Head is in absolute disbelief! Hard length, from over the stumps and on the off and middle stump line. Travis Head opens up his stance to give himself some room to pull it over the leg side, but gets it mistimed in the air. It sails over the deep mid-wicket region and descends just before the ropes. Rashid Khan sprints to the right, covering a lot of yards, and slides to take a fabulous catch at deep mid-wicket. He not only maintains the ball in his hand while sliding, but also shows a good example of deceleration as well, as he wasn't that far from the boundary ropes. All the GT players rush towards the Afghan leggie in admiration and GT get their first breakthrough. Travis Head departs for a quickfire 20 and SRH are 49/1.
