22 was required off the last over and England fell just a boundary short of it. They can go back with their heads high as they have been involved with 3 close games so far and now have only a game with Netherlands left.
Alex Hales and Michael Lumb started off on quite a blistering note but South Africa kept coming back with key wickets at crucial junctures. Buttler too planned out his innings in such a way that he could go all-out attack in the last overs but Tahir removed him and England were behind from there on.
Excellent performance from South Africa. It was laid by two extremely talented batsmen, Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers. First, Hash set things at the top of the order with a good 50 and then AB de Villiers, with his variety of strokes, was striking big blows in the death and propelled South Africa to 196.
