Dilip Mahadu Gavit and Mohammed Basil clinched gold and silver in para athletics while Murali Sreeshankar scripted history as India took their medal tally to 15 at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Sreeshankar had the best attempt of 8.09m to win his second successive Commonwealth Games long jump silver. Meanwhile, the boxers produced brilliant performances to assure 10 medals for India. Dilip Mahadu Gavit won the gold clocking 10.71 seconds to take the top spot, while Mohammed Basil produced 10.83 seconds to finish second. India now have 15 medals in this Games -- 3 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze.
Earlier, India won a historic silver medal in athletics as Gulveer Singh finished second in the men's 10,000m while Harjinder Kaur produced a sensational performance to win the women's 69kg weightlifting silver medal at Commonwealth Games 2026.
In boxing, Priya Ghanghas, Preeti Pawar and Jadumani Singh won their respective matches to reach the semifinals in their events. As a result, India were assured of three more medals.
Earlier on Monday, Sharmila Dhankar bagged the ultimate glory for India, becoming the first para-athlete from the country to clinch the top podium spot in the women's shot put F57 final. The likes of Gyaneshwari Yadav, Sarvesh Kushare and Valluri Ajaya Babu claimed silver medals, and Bindyarani Devi and Shilpa K. Shyla added bronze.
The only other gold medal winner for India in the Glasgow Games is Mirabai Chanu, who completed a hat-trick of top podium finishes in her CWG career, lifting a combined weight of 190kg in the women's 48kg category.
