It was a perfect end to a closely fought event as India's Gurpal Singh finished with the silver.

Gagan Narang brought further glory when he bagged silver in the 50m rifle prone - an event in which he was competing in for the first time.

"This is not a popular event in terms of medals. It is an event in which India has not done very well and this is a new event for me too," he said later.

Vijay Kumar kept his chances for a medal alive by finishing 4th in men's 25m rapid fire pistol qualification.
