Put into bat, the Faisalabad Wolves were off to a good start, with the openers registering a quick 48-run stand which was ultimately broken by Amit Mishra, who was introduced in the 7th over. Mishra ultimately fetched figures of 1 for 13 in four overs, that later helped him earn the man-of-the-match award as well
Sunrisers Hyderabad kept on taking wickets at regular intervals and did not allow any partnership to prosper.
Misbah ul-Haq looked class apart amongst the Faisalabad batsman and scored a enterprising 40-ball unbeaten 56 that took the Wolves to 127 for 5 in 20 overs - a below par score at the PCA stadium.
The Sunrisers' chase of 128 began solidly with Parthiv Patel match Shikhar Dhawan shot-to-shot.
Tall Faisalabad medium pacer struck to remove Parthiv, who went for a belligerent pull but was caught at the mid-wicket region.
Parthiv's departure did not deter Shikhar Dhawan who was nicely controlling the innings. He scored his 21st t20 fifty and his second in CLT20.
Left-arm spinner Imran Khalid ended Dhawan's 50-ball 59-run knock when the Indian opener was out played onto stumps. Two balls later Khalid struck again to remove Odisha batsman Biplab Samantray for duck.
Darren Sammy ended things in a jiffy in the 18th over, hitting three consecutive fours of Asad Ali to register a 7-wicket win for the Sunrisers. Hyderabad were joined in the CLT20 main draw with Otago Volts, who had beaten Kandurata Maroons in the first match on Wednesday.
