Amandeep enters second round of men's boxing in National Games
Prominent pugilists, including Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Amandeep Singh, sailed into the second round of boxing competition after winning their respective bouts in men and women's section of the 34th National Games on Saturday.

Prominent pugilists, including Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Amandeep Singh, sailed into the second round of boxing competition after winning their respective bouts in men and women's section of the 34th National Games here on Saturday.
Amandeep of Punjab exhibited a combination of left and right punches to open his account with a 4-1 victory over M Murugan of Tamil Nadu in the men's light fly weight category at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
In the women's fly weight class, Pinky Jangra of Haryana, who created a flutter outclassing five-time world champion M C Mary Kom in the 51 kgs category quarter-final round bout of the 9th Senior National boxing champion here in 2009, displayed a good show defeating Daljeet Kaur of Punjab 7-2.
Referee also had a busy day as they had to stop the contest twice (one each in men and women's section) after the boxers were knocked out by the opponents.
In the first round of women's light weight category, Monia Sharma of J&K was knocked out by Tripura's Vanlal Duati, while Debendra Thapa was adjudged winner after he knocked out Ghulam Ghous of Bihar in the men's Fly weight category (52kgs).
