Saina Nehwal, decorated with Padma Bhushan award on Monday by President Pranab Mukherjee, said she hopes to "continue to make India proud" through her exploits in the sporting arena. (Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, Deepika Kumari Dominate Padma Awards)

The 26-year-old Hyderabadi said she was "very happy" after receiving the nation's third highest civilian honour - Padma Bhushan - from President Pranab Mukherjee at the Civil Investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

"It's a great moment, a proud moment. I am very very happy. My parents are very happy," she said, adding that she hopes "to continue to make India proud.
