Birmingham:
Pi Hongyan of France tried what appeared as her best but it was not good enough to challenge India's Saina Nehwal who moved into the quarterfinals of All England Badminton Championships with the 21-10 win.
Nehwal was off the block in a hurry, carving a solid 8-1 lead in the opening game. Despite a brief fightback from Hongyan, Nehwal was on top of her game and managed to seal the match and set up a clash against the winner of the match between Xuerui Li of China and Maria Febe Kusumastuti of Indonesia.
It was not all good news for Indians though. Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa surrendered in the doubles category, losing to Qing Tian and Yunlei Zhao of China 21-10, 21-15 in half an hour.
