"This has been as near to perfect a Test match as anybody could have asked to see," said CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat in an official media release.
"The Proteas have given Jacques Kallis exactly the farewell send-off that the entire nation wanted and Jacques, of course, was right on top of his game with yet another memorable century, not to mention his 200th catch and his achievement of becoming the third leading Test run scorer of all time."
"Above all, the Proteas have beaten their closest rivals on the ICC World rankings to consolidate their position as the world's top Test team and this is an important result as we work towards the World Test Championship," he added.
Lorgat also praised Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers for their performances.
"We have also been able to celebrate Dale Steyn becoming the second fastest player of all time to take 350 Test match wickets and AB de Villiers setting a South African record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in a two-Test series," he said.
