Paris Paralympics 2024 Day 7 Highlights: It was a memorable day for India at the Para Games as the country clinched four medals with two of them being gold. Harvinder Singh scripted history by becoming the first-ever Indian archer to win a Paralymic gold medal. He achieved the glory in the men's individual recurve open event. After this, Dharambir too won the top honour in the men's club throw F51 final, an event that also saw India's Pranav Soorma clinching a silver. Dharambir smashed the Asian record to claim the gold. Earlier in the day, world champion Sachin Sarjerao Khilari had clinched a silver in men's shot put F46 event. With the four medals in the day, India's tally rose to 24. (Medals Tally)

A dream finish for India this is as it is a one-two finish for the nation in the club throw F51 final. Dharambir has clinched a gold with a best throw of 34.92m while Pranav Soorma has bagged a silver with his best being 34.59m. Another Indian Amit Kumar had a poor outing as he finished at the bottom spot in the final.

Tokyo Games bronze-winner Harvinder Singh became the first Indian archer to win a gold medal at the Paralympics, beating Poland's Lukasz Ciszek in a lop-sided final in Paris. The 33-year-old Indian, who lost to Kevin Mather of the USA in the Tokyo Paralympics semifinals before securing a bronze three years ago, put up a dominant show to knock out Ciszek 6-0 (28-24, 28-27, 29-25). Harvinder, who is pursuing Ph.D in Economics, won five back-to-back matches in a single day, showing neither fatigue nor nerves to etch his name in history and clinch India's second medal in archery. Both his legs are impaired owing to the side effects of dengue treatment that he underwent as a toddler.
