After becoming the first Indian to climb to world number 1 rank in women doubles tennis, a proud Sania Mirza speaks candidly to NDTV on her journey, her detractors and sexism in sports. "Of course, it's still a man's world," she tells NDTV hoping that the mindset of the society changes after the her achievement and that of Saina Nehwal. She says she was honoured and humbled to have reached the top spot after taking a "very tough call" to play only doubles tennis. "Controversies have only made me stronger," says the Hyderabadi Hurricane asking young girls to "believe in yourself" and that "you can achieve anything or be anything you want, and it doesn't always have to be culturally or socially the 'right' thing". She bats for Anushka Sharma saying it was "silly" to blame her for Virat Kohli's performance and that she had faced it too. "It's funny how women are always taken as a weakness, and not as a strength," she says.
