Sai Praneeth out of badminton singles in National Games

Commonwealth Games doubles gold medalist Ashwini Ponappa and top ranked B Sai Praneeth were shocked in the singles and doubles event of the badminton competition in the 34th National Games on Saturday.
Karnataka's promising youngster Aditya Prakash pipped Andhra Pradesh favourite Sai Praneeth 21-17 23-21 to book a last four berth in the men's section.
The other upset of the day came in the form of women's doubles pair of Nithya Sosale and Ashwini who lost lost to Maharashtra pair of Sampada Sahasrabudhe and Pradnya Gadre 20-22 20-22.
In the other men's quarter-finals, Andhra's K Nandagopal beat Maharashtra's Eshan Naqvi 21-14 21-13 while Andhra's B Sumeeth Reddy struggled past Karnataka's Mohit Kamat 16-21 21-13 21-18.
Maharashtra's Sayali Gokhale beat Assam's Bibari Basumatri 21-19 21-9 to storm into the semis as Maharashtra's Arundati Pantwane beat Haryana's Anita Ohlan 21-6 21-19 in the the another last eight match.
PC Thulasi of Kerala faced a strong challenge from Andhra's P V Sindhu 11-21 21-8 21-19 while Maharashtra's Neha Pandit thrashed Manali Sinha of Assam 21-5 21-9 to enter the last four round.
