Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Deepa Malik for scripting history by winning a silver medal in shot put F-53 event at the Rio Paralympics on Monday.   ÂÂ
Sports minister Vijay Goel too conveyed his greetings to the shot-putter.
Deepa's best throw from six attempts was of 4.61m. With the win, India's registered its third medal from the Rio Paralympics.

In his congratulatory message, Goel said continuous success of para athletes at Rio has made the country proud. He said he has personally requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet and bless the entire Indian contingent currently participating at Paralympics once they return home after the Games.
The Sports Ministry has already announced a cash prize of Rs 75 lakhs, Rs 50 lakhs and Rs 30 lakhs respectively for gold, silver and bronze medal winners at the ongoing Paralympics.
