Here are the Highlights of 2nd T20I between India and West Indies, Straight From the Eden Gardens in Kolkata
10: 46 PM: That's all over!
India beat West Indies by 8 runs. Take the series as well. Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell gave their all but Harshal Patel held on to his nerves after being hit for two sixes.
10:43 PM: ANOTHER SIX!
BACK TO BACK SIXES! Goes full and straight again. Powell does the rest. Was in the slot for him but he has picked the spot right. Another twist in the tale?
10:36 PM: OUT! BIG WICKET!
Bhuvneshwar Kumar strikes. A big wicket for India. Nicholas Pooran is gone. Fuller outside off, angling across. Pooran looks to launch it down the ground but it was an offcutter. All he manages is a top edge and Bishnoi pouches it, finally.
10:26 PM: 50 FOR POORAN!
That's a six. Fifty up for Nicholas Pooran. Fuller down the leg side. He moves across and helps it over fine leg.
10:25 PM: THAT'S MASSIVE!
Powell bludgeons it. Short of length, banged into the pitch around off. He Moves his front leg and sends it over the deep midwicket boundary
10:22 PM: DROPPED!
Bhuvneshwar Kumar drops it. A length ball outside off, and he smashes it down the ground. Powell tries to pull this with power but gets a top. The bowler drops it.
10:19 PM: FOUR RUNS!
Powell showcasing his brute and strength. A length ball outside off, and he smashes it down the ground towards long-off.
10:14 PM: BOUNDARY!
Powelled away from Powell. Flatter on the stumps, moves back and crashes it down the ground, over the non-striker's head. Virat Kohli at long on hand no chance to stop that.
10:08 PM: FOUR RUNS!
That's a bizarre boundary. A dipping full toss, Powell didn't pick it up and was early into the shot. Instead, it goes past short third man for a boundary. India gone for a review but there was clearly some bat.
10:02 PM: THAT HAS GONE ALL THE WAY!
That's sheer power from Powell. Pitched wide and fuller outside off-stump. Powell picks it up and smashes this over the wide long off boundary for a six.
9:56 PM: SIX RUNS! WHAT A HIT!
What a shot from Powell. That's not ideal stuff from Chahar. This time it is banged in short and Powell pulls it hard, for a flat six towards deep midwicket. 12 runs off that over.
9:50 PM: FOUR RUNS!
Chahar tarts with a short ball on the stumps, Pooran goes back and pulls it in front of square leg. Looks like it was a knuckleball. Easy pickings for the West Indies.
9:45 PM: FOUR RUNS!
Sweeped hard. What a shot from Rovman Powell. Too much flight on that and Powell fetches it from there, and slog sweeps it between long-on and deep midwicket.
9:43 PM: SIX RUNS!
How costly will that drop catch be? That's a colossal hit from Pooran. Fuller from Chahal, Pooran goes down on one knee and slog sweeps it way over the deep square leg boundary
9:38 PM: RAVI BISHNOI STRIKES
What a start from Bishnoi. King goes down the track and looks to take on long-on. Did not get enough power but plenty of air. A straightforward catch for Suryakumar Yadav.
9: 36 PM: EXCELLENT OVER FROM CHAHAL
Another fine over from Chahal comes to an end. Just five runs off this over. There is plenty of help on offer for the spinner.
Ravi Bishnoi also introduced.
9: 28 PM: SIX RUNS!
What a shot from Pooran. Not the ideal start from Harshal Patel. Short and angling in. Pooran rocks back and pulls it over deep midwicket for a six.
9:26 PM: END OF THE POWERPLAY!
West Indies dodge a massive bullet. King survives. Was given out initially by the umpire, who wasn't sure himself. King reviews it and the DRS comes to his rescue.
9:20 PM: CHAHAL STRIKES!
Looked like a googly but it didn't turn much. Mayers looked to pull it over but managed only a top edge. Chahal settled nicely under it and took a fine catch.
9:16 PM: FOUR RUNS!
That was a good effort from Venkatesh Iyer. Ran all the way back but lands just in front of him. Kings survives and gets a boundary as well.
9:13 PM: END OF THE 4TH OVER!
Good start from Chahal after West Indies had scored 22 in the first three overs. Nonetheless, King and Mayers have started well.
9:08 PM: FOUR RUNS!
Crashed! That has been crashed hard. Fuller and wider at 120kph and Mayers has absolutely smashed it through extra cover
9:03 PM: FOUR RUNS!
That has been crashed straight down the ground by Brandon King. Outside off, a little bit of away movement but King has smashed it to the bowler's right.
8:56: WIDE AND FOUR!
A lot of moment in the air. Swung more than Bhuvneshwar Kumar expected. He tried to hit the block hole but goes down the leg, beating Pant behind the sticks.
West Indies' Innings Starts
8:42: END OF THE INNINGS!
A fine over from Shephard. India end at 186 for 5. 88 runs came in the last over, thanks to Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer. West Indies to chase 187.
8:38 PM: BOWLED HIM!
WHAT DELIVERY! Romario Shephard! Venkatesh Iyer completely beaten by the pace and line and length. His Off stump goes for a walk. A good knock comes to an end.
8:36 PM: END OF THE 19TH OVER!
A big over for India as they look to close this with a big total. 15 runs of this. Holder is looking devastated. With one over to go, how many can India conjure?
8:31 PM: THAT'S GONE MILES!
The sound of the bat is so satisfying. Shades of MS Dhoni in that shot. Swings the bat and one hand comes off it. But plenty of power in it. That has gone into the stands. Up and over midwicket for a six.
8:29 PM: FOUR RUNS!
That's in the gap. Iyer with an absolute banger. It's all about the timing. Shimmies down the track and Shepherd looks to go wide outside off, but he connects with it and places it between deep cover and third man.
8:27 PM: 50-RUN PARTNERSHIP!
Pant and Iyer have played exceptionally well. Sublime knocks from both the players. That triple brings up the 50-run partnership between the two. Can they push India to 180 or even more?
8:23 PM: THAT HAS GONE INTO THE STANDS!
Tried to bowl a slower bouncer but Iyer is not cramped by it. He pulls this up and over from a little over chest high and gets six for it. India are galloping at the moment.
8:19 PM: ANOTHER BOUNDARY!
Pant this time. On the pads, flicked away hard and wide of deep square leg for four more. A big over for India as they look to get to 180. 15 runs off hit. Cottrell had bowled well so far but he has conceded plenty in this one.
8:17 PM: FOUR RUNS!
Back to back boundaries. Venkatesh Iyer is looking in his groove. Sheldon Cottrell is not happy. The previous one towards short fine leg and this one drops between deep midwicket and deep square
8: 14 PM: FOUR RUNS! CRACKING SHOT!
What a shot from Pant! Pitched full and slightly wide and Pant drives this towards the cover region for a boundary. The outfield is lightning fast here.
8:07 PM: GONE! KOHLI DEPARTS!
Hits chase for a six to reach his fifty. But Chase makes a fine comeback to castle him. Beaten in the air and off the pitch. Stunned by the turn, and bowled middle stump
8:01 PM: THAT'S CHEEKY FROM KOHLI!
That's naughty from Virat Kohli as Odean Smith shakes his head in disbelief. Pitched slightly short with some pace. Kohli makes most of the pace and knicks it beyond the keepers reach for a boundary.
7: 55: FOUR RUNS!
Rishabh Pant crashes this. He whips it hard across the line, using the bottom hand to drag it wide of long-on. He needs to play sensibly now and help Kohli in steadying India's innings. A big total on the cards?
7:48 PM: OUT! ANOTHER ONE GONE!
Suryakumar Yadav fails to match his exploits from the previous game. The length is not quite there for the drive but Surya tries to force it. The ball turns in to hit the inner half of the bat for a low return catch. Chase completes a fine caught and bowled.
7:39 PM: OUT! ROHIT IS GONE!
Full enough, just outside off. It is right there for the slog, but Rohit mistimes this, Goes straight up in the air and extra cover runs to his left to take the catch. Good catch from King, who had earlier dropped Rohit.
Rohit Sharma c King b Chase 19 (18)
7: 34 PM: FOUR RUNS!
That's sloppy fielding. Another misfield. Easy pickings for Virat Kohli. Hit hard, in the air, but well short of Chase, who looks to take this on the half-volley but misses altogether
7: 31 PM: EDGE AND SIX RUNS!
Did not get the best connection but Rohit hits the first six of the innings. He looks to go over long-off/straight cover, but the ball is not full enough and gets big on him. He ends up slicing it square on the off side, and it just about clears the boundary
7: 28 PM: WHAT A SHOT!
Excellent shot from Virat Kohli who is dealing in boundaries at the moment. Back to back boundaries from him to welcome Romario Shepard. Has looked in much better shape this afternoon.
7:26: END OF THE 5th OVER!
A good over from India's perspective. 11 runs off it. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are on a mission. Both have looked quite lively. Onus is on them to steady India's ship.
7:22 PM: END OF THE 4th OVER!
Another fine over from Cottrell comes to an end. Just five runs off it.
7:15 PM: FOUR RUNS! CHEEKY!
That's cheeky from Virat Kohli. Hosein pitches this wide and slight fuller. Kohli makes room, goes on a knee and paddles this fine for a boundary. Good start from Kohli. Two boundaries from him in this over.
7: 10 PM: OUT! ISHAN KISHAN IS GONE!
Ishan Kishan is gone. After surviving an appeal in the previous bowl, Sheldon Cottrell gets him this time. Tries to pull this but mistimes it. Mayers takes an easy catch at point. Cottrell with his trademark salute.
Ishan Kishan c Mayers b Cottrell 2 (10)
7: 06 PM: END OF THE 1ST OVER!
India are off to a flying start thanks to some sloppy bowling from Akeal Hosein. Bowled two new balls, one of them went for a boundary. Decent start by Rohit and Ishan. 10 runs off that over.
7:03 PM: FOUR RUNS, WIDE AND A NO BALL! FREE HIT FOR INDIA!
Akeal Hosein slightly turns this in, firing it into the pads but Kishan backs away. The problem is, he has gone too far down the leg side, conceding five wides. It's also a no ball.
6: 55 PM: ACTION ABOUT TO START!
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will look to give India a good start just like they did in the series opener. Especially Kishan, who did get amongst the runs in the first game, but wasted a lot of balls. Rohit will look to go past Martin Guptill and Virat Kohli in the all-time run scoring charts in the shortest format of the game.
6:48 PM: HERE'S HOW BOTH THE TEAMS LINE UP!
INDIA XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Harhsal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi, Yuzvendra Chahal
West Indies XI: Kieron Pollard (C), Nicholas Pooran (wk), Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Roston Chase, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Akeal Hoosein, Odean Smith, Sheldon Cottrell, Romario Shephard
6:44 PM: KIERON POLLARD MAKES 100TH APPEARANCE!
Congratulations to the West Indies skipper who reaches a career milestone. Kieron Pollard makes his 100th appearance today in the shortest format of the game. The 34-year-old had made his first appearance against Australia in 2008 at Bridgetown, Barbados.
6:33 PM: WEST INDIES WIN TOSS, OPT TO BOWL
West Indies have won the toss and skipper Kieron Pollard elected to bowl first. India remain unchanged while the visitors have made just one change from the team which was beaten in the series opener, as Jason Holder replaces Fabian Allen.
6:22 PM: INDIA TO RETAIN WINNING COMBINATION?
Shreyas Iyer was unfortunate to miss out on a place in the playing XI in the series opener as India had gone for an extra bowler. India's batting line-up looked shaky once again before Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer had taken the team across the line in the end. Will Shreyas get his chance tonight? Stay tuned to find out.
