India have scored 81 for 3 in their second innings by stumps on Day 2. Shubman Gill scored 33 not out while Rishabh Pant remains unbeaten at the score of 12. The hosts have extended their lead to 308 runs against Bangladesh, who were dismissed for 149 earlier in the day.

Virat Kohli decided not to review the LBW decision that went against him. Later, UltraEdge revealed that Kohli got a nick of his bat before the ball hit his front pad. It was a massive blunder from the Indian batter as he could not realise that he actually got an edge on the ball. Had Kohli known that he could have saved himself with a review. The replays even left India captain Rohit Sharma in frustration.

Virat Kohli is gone! It was a fuller ball from Mehidy Hasan turning into Kohli and the latter was caught plumb in front of the stumps. Umpire raised his finger over the appeal from Bangladesh players and Kohli decided not to review it. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan have managed to keep things tight so far with some disciplined bowling attack. Meanwhile, both Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are also happy dealing in singles.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz tossed it up and Shubman Gill has executed the sweep shot to perfection for a four. It went through the backward square leg for the boundary. Gill is growing in confidence with the progress of his innings. Good sign for him and India!

Virat Kohli gets a single on the final ball of Mehidy Hasan Miraz's first over in the innings and India race to the 50-run mark at the loss of two wickets. Both Kohli and Shubman Gill have managed to keep things under control so far.

At the start of 10th over that was bowled by Shakib Al Hasan, India's Virat Kohli and Bangladesh wicketkeeper Litton Das were spotted sharing smiles after some good chat. It was a heartwarming moment to see players of both the sides having a light-hearted moment despite the competition on the ground.

Rohit continues to disappoint as he once again gets out cheaply. India have lost their first wicket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal shows no mercy to Taskin Ahmed and smashes two brilliant boundaries as the Bangladesh pacer concedes 10 runs in the first over. What a brilliant start to the innings as India re high on confidence.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have taken the crease and will aim to take India's lead deeper. On the other hand, Taskin Ahmed will be bowling the first over for Bangladesh as the visitors eye some quick wickets. 

OUT!!! Mohammed Siraj stuns Nahid Rana and bowls him out for 11. With this, Bangladesh get bundled out for just 149. With this, India have taken 227-run lead. Jasprit Bumrah, who had taken a four-wicket haul, misses out on a fifer. But nevertheless, India are in a dominating position and it will be interesting to see whether they force follow-on. 

OUT!!! Jasprit Bumrah takes his fourth wicket of the day and this time, he stuns Taskin Ahmed for 11. Bumrah delivers a perfect, on-point yorker, which leaves Taskin clueless. The ball gently passes below the bat and rattles up the leg stump. This is Bumrah's 400th international wicket. What a brilliant delivery as Bangladesh go 9 down. He will now be joined by Taskin Ahmed at the crease as the duo will now aim to stay unbeaten at the crease, in order to reduce the trail. On the other hand, India bowlers are aiming to bundle out Bangladesh at the earliest to force a follow-on.

Huge, huge moment in the game! Shakib Al Hasan has to follow Litton Das back into the dugout. Shakib messes up a reverse sweep, sending a catch straight up to Rishabh Pant. A long delay, as the umpires check whether it has hit the ground or not. It did not, and Shakib walks back for 32.

The duo will now aim to bring out the visitors out of the mess and stitch a stable partnership in the second session of the day. On the other hand, India bowlers are aiming for some more wickets, in order to maintain their upper hand in the game. 

This marks the end of the first session on Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. At Lunch, Bangladesh's score read 26/3 with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim standing unbeaten at the crease. During the first session, India got bundled out for 376 with Hasan Mahmud registering his five-wicket haul. Later coming to bat, Bangladesh lost their opener Shadman Islam for 2 after Jasprit Bumrah bamboozled him with his stunning pace. Later, Akash Deep stunned the crowd with his two back-to-back scalps to remove Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque.

OUT!!!! WOAH!!!! Akash Deep at his absolute best as he scalp two wickets in a row. After dismissing Zakir Hasan, he cleans up Mominul Haque on the very next delivery. Mominul tries to show a cautious approach but the ball misses the bat and rattles up the off stump. An ecstatic Akash punches the air in celebration as India coach Gautam Gambhir gets off his seat to give a standing ovation to the young pacer.

OUT!!! After playing a decent knock with the bat, pacer Akash Deep is back at his original best as he provides India with a big breakthrough with the ball. Akash dismisses Zakir Hasan for 3. Hasan tries to play a shot but the ball dodges the bat and knocks out the middle stump. The crowd goes berserk and celebrations are on in the Indian camp.

The duo aims to stitch a good partnership, in order to provide Bangladesh with a terrific start. On the other hand, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be bowling the first over for India and eyes some quick wickets. 

OUT!!! Hasan Mahmud dismisses Jasprit Bumrah for seven. Bumrah tries to play a defensive shot but the ball finds a thick edge and Zakir Hasan takes a good catch at the third slip. With this, Hasan Mahmud gets a five-wicket haul and India bundled out for 376. This was Hasan's second five-wicket haul in third Test match of his career. 

OUT!!!! Taskin Ahmed is on fire today as he has taken his third wicket of the day. This time, India's last hope and the strongest Ravichandran Ashwin departs for 113. Ashwin smashes it hard for a six but his shot lacks power as the ball comes down Najmul Hossain Shanto takes a brilliant catch at the deep mid-off. A crucial wicket gone for India and receives a huge round of applause from the Indian camp and the fans.

OUT!!! Right after the injury scare, Akash Deep gets dismissed by Taskin Ahmed and departs for 17. Once again, Akash tries to got for a big hit in search of a boundary but he fails to time the shot properly as the ball goes up in the air and Najmul Hossain Shanto takes a brilliant catch after running from the mid-on. Eighth wicket gone for India as Jasprit Bumrah walks in to bat.

OHHHHH!!! That must be really painful. Akash Deep plays a shot off Taskin Ahmed's delivery and runs for a single. While running, he cancels the plan midway and attempts to come back to his spot. Hasan Mahmud finds the ball and throws it towards the striker's end. However, the ball goes and hits at Akash Deep's back. He writhers in pain and the team physio rushes onto the ground and checks on him. Luckily, he is fit to continue the game.

India pacer Akash Deep is looking in good form with the bat. He is complimenting Ravichandran Ashwin and the duo is taking India ahead together. So far, Akash has smashed three boundaries and aims to hit more in the upcoming overs. On the other hand, Bangladesh bowlers are desperately waiting for another wicket, in order to stop India from touching the 400-run mark.

OHH!!! What an interesting turn of events here as Akash Deep survives a close call. On the fifth delivery of Taskin Ahmed's over, Akash smashes it hard in search of a boundary. The ball goes up in the air and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan runs backwards from the square leg. However, Shakib fails to grab the ball properly and it lands on the ground. Akash Deep, who is looking in good touch with the bat, gets a crucial lifeline.

After the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja for 86, pacer Akash Deep joins Ravichandran Ashwin at the crease. In the previous over of Hasan Mahmud, Akash Deep starts attacking and smashes two brilliant boundaries. Resulting which, Mahmud leaks eight runs in his over and India go past the 350-run mark. Brilliant batting by India as at one stage they were struggling at 144/6.

OUT!!! Taskin Ahmed has provided Bangladesh with a big breakthrough as he dismissed the dangerous Ravindra Jadeja for 86. Jadeja tries to play a defensive shot but the ball finds a thin edge of his bat and travels straight to wicketkeeper Litton Das, who takes an easy catch behind the stumps. The mighty partnership between Jadeja an Ravichandran Ashwin now comes to an end as Bangladesh bounce back.

After 11 dot balls, India finally open their run tally on Day 2 with Ravichandran Ashwin's brilliant boundary. On the last delivery of Hasan Mahmud's over, Ashwin smartly drives it away with a thick outside edge as the ball runs across the boundary line for a four. India looking for more boundaries.

India have began the first session of Day 2 on a cautious note. In the first over of the day by Taskin Ahmed, Ravindra Jadeja understands the condition of the pitch as India did not score any run. In the upcoming overs, the duo of Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to steal some boundaries and provide India with the momentum.

The Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh begins. Ravichandran Ashwin (102*) and Ravindra Jadeja (86*) will be resuming the proceedings for the hosts in Chennai from 339/6. The duo will aim to take India's score as high as they can. On the other hand, Taskin Ahmed will be bowling the first over of the day for Bangladesh as the visitors aim to bundle out India at the earliest. 

(How difficult was batting yesterday morning?) "I wouldn't say that difficult, but I was just thinking of my plan and thinking how to bat on that time on that wicket. I was trying to enjoy the wicket and enjoy the game. The way I was leaving the ball, it was quite good for me. (Did batting get easier as the day progressed?) I don't think so, I was thinking I just needed to focus on each ball and watch the ball carefully. I was thinking about where I can score if I have the opportunities and I was just going for it."

"There was so much swing on offer, there was enough seam movement on offer, there was enough spice to keep everybody interested. Weather - we are starting at 30, it's going to get hotter as the day progresses. With the heat, we saw what happened in the last session. It was very easy to bat on, runs came in a flurry. Today at the start, the new ball will be taken by the Bangladesh team and they'll make use of the conditions which is considerably different to last morning which had a lot more juice for the fast bowlers. If India get through the first half an hour, we can expect a big score from both these batters and probably the lower order can chip in as well," Dinesh Karthik and Murali Kartik's pitch report. 

Bangladesh could bowl only 80 overs in the entire day. They bowled 23 overs in the first session, 25 in the second and 32 in the final session on Day 1.

"Bangladesh will have bowled less than 80 overs in spite of the extra half hour added on. It has to be unacceptable," wrote cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle on X, formerly Twitter.

While Bangladesh have lost their hold in the game, a bigger issue must be bothering the side as it was 10 overs short of the target despite getting a half-an-hour extension in bowling. This might see the side getting penalised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). 

The Indian batting lineup got shaken by Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud on the opening day of the first Test. The 24-year-old pacer troubled the Indian batters and scalped four precious wickets in quick successions. He removed the likes of Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), Virat Kohli (6), and Rishabh Pant (39). He will now aim to continue with his powerful spell and bundle out India at the earliest. 

Ravichandran Ashwin became the first ever cricketer in history to have scored 20-plus fifty plus scores along with 30-plus five wicket hauls in the longest format of the game. He is thus the first cricketer in the 147-year history of Test cricket to achieve the feat. He is also the only cricketer to have scored 20 or more fifty plus scores and have 30 five-wicket hauls in Tests.

All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin left everyone utterly stunned with his heroic batting on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh. After India was in a troublesome situation at 144/6, Ashwin started a fine counter-attack with Ravindra Jadeja, scoring 102* in 112 balls, with 10 fours and two sixes. His runs came at a strike rate of 91.07.

It was the first session on Day 1 that saw Bangladesh do the bulk of the damage with the ball, sending India's top order crumbling. It would be important for R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to withstand the early advantage on Day 2, look for a first innings total around 450 runs.

India ended the Day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh on a dominating note. At Stumps, India's score read 339/6 with Ravichandran Ashwin (102*) and Ravindra Jadeja (86*) standing unbeaten at the crease. Earlier in the day, India were struggling at 144/6 but the unbeaten 195-run partnership between Ashwin and Jadeja brought them to the driving seat.
