New Delhi:
Indian men fought valiantly but could not escape from a 1-2 loss to Spain, here on Saturday.
While Sandeep Singh's successful penalty corner in the 28th minute began the proceedings, Spain managed to return the favour twice with goals in the 34th and 69th minute.
Field goals from Pau Quemada and skipper Santi Freixa were too much for India to handle as the match which marked the 250th international cap for Ignace Tirkey, was lost without the elusive equaliser.
India play South Africa on Sunday.
