Farmingdale (US):
The inclement weather threw Jeev Milkha Singh's campaign in complete disarray with the Indian going five-over after eight holes before rain dropped curtains on the opening round of the US Open golf tournament here.
On a truncated day when just four players returned sub-par scores at the soggy Bethpage Black, Jeev began with a bogey and that became a recurring theme. He dropped another stroke on the third and parred the next before shooting a bogey hat-trick on those par-four holes.
The Indian, battling a rib injury, had barely parred the eighth hole when steady rain made play impossible and Jeev returned with an unfinished business.
Jeff Brehaut, Johan Edfors, Andrew Parr and Ryan Spears were going one-under before the rain suspension.
