West Bromwich Albion had twice led through Stephane Sessegnon and Saido Berahino, but Manchester United F.C. avoided an embarrassing defeat as substitute Marouane Fellaini equalised with his first United goal before Blind scored the second leveller in the 87th minute to ensure Louis van Gaal's side stretched their unbeaten run to three matches.

Former Sunderland striker Stephane Sessegnon did the damage with a right foot strike in the 20th minute before Liam Ridgewell added the second 14 minutes from time to ease Steve Clarke's men away from the relegation zone.

Sunderland's defeat left them level on 37 points with Villa and Newcastle United, five points above the relegation zone with three matches to play this season.

Sunderland said on Monday that captain Lee Cattermole has been given a four-match ban, while teammate Stephane Sessegnon will be out for three after their dismissals during the local derby with Newcastle.
