KBFC on the rise!
We have witnessed an enthralling half of football and KBFC have managed to seal a comprehensive win over an unimpressive NEUFC side with a three-goal burst in the second half. The hosts have now suffered their fifth consecutive loss in the league and have still just scored one goal so far. Their strikers did not manage to get past a defense that had conceded the most goals in the Hero ISL 2022-23 before this game. The first half ended goalless with both teams playing with high intensity but lacking the final ball and hardly having any shots on goal. It was Dimitrios Diamantakos who broke the deadlock getting on the end of a lovely cross from Saurav Mandal that was helped on by Rahul Kannoly Praveen. Despite the goal, it was KBFC who continued to attack with substitute Sahal Samad scoring a brace late in the game to crush any hopes NEUFC had of stealing some points. Sahal’s first effort was a fine shot from the edge of the box as the ball was squared to him by Rahul Kannoly Praveen and he found the bottom right corner. A composed finish in the closing minutes of the game from a Soraisham Sandeep Singh cross got him his second. NEUFC are at the bottom of the league and are looking ahead to a long painful campaign unless things change drastically. KBFC have six points on the board and have jumped up the points table. They may look to use this win as an opportunity to kickstart their campaign.

GOOOALLLL!!!
KBFC make it 2-0! That should seal this game in their favor. Rahul Kannoly Praveen gets the ball on the right wing and provides a low cross along the edge of the box toward Sahal Samad who takes a first-time shot at the goal. Mirshad Michu's sight is probably impeded by his defenders as he dives to his left and gets his fingertips to it but does not have enough on it to stop it from going into the net. NEUFC are now staring down the barrel of defeat.

56'
GOOOALLLL!!!
KBFC have found a way through! The deadlock has been broken and Dimitrios Diamantakos is off and running in the Hero ISL 2022-23 season! All the credit goes to Saurav Mandal who carries the ball forward on the right wing and whips in a dangerous low cross into the box. The delivery beats all the NEUFC defenders and gets the foot of the diving Rahul Kannoly Praveen and goes toward Dimitrios Diamantakos at the far post who slides in to tap the ball into an open net. KBFC have a crucial lead in a tightly-contested game.

The action has resumed in the second half with NEUFC kicking the ball and they will now attack from right to left of the screen. Both teams have opted not to make any changes at the interval.
All square!
A hard-fought first half comes to an end! KBFC showed their possession game, but they were unable to penetrate the NEUFC defense. NorthEast United FC, on the other hand, managed to create some openings and they came the closest to scoring when Romain Philippoteaux's shot hit the woodwork. Kerala Blasters FC gradually came into the game more and put a lot of pressure at the fag end of the half, but NEUFC defended very well. So, it is even at the break and we can expect another exciting half. Will we get a winner?

Let's Football!
It is time for action! NEUFC have opted for a 5-3-2 formation while KBFC are going with a 4-4-2 combination. KBFC are attacking from right to left in the first half. Let's Football...
KBFC (Starting XI) -
Prabhsukhan Gill (GK), Soraisham Sandeep Singh, Ruivah Hormipam, Marko Leskovic, Nishu Kumar, Jeakson Singh, Adrian Luna (C), Saurav Mandal, Ivan Kaliuzhnyi, Rahul Kannoly Praveen and Dimitrios Diamantakos.
NEUFC (Starting XI) -
Mirshad Michu (GK), Joe Zoherliana, Mashoor Shereef, Michael Jakobsen (C), Gaurav Bora, Gurjinder Kumar, Emil Benny, Jon Gaztanaga, Romain Philippoteaux, Jithin M.S and Matt Derbyshire.
Hunt for valuable points!
NEUFC have scored just one goal so far and their lack of penetration in front of the goal is proving to be their kryptonite. Their defense looked dodgy in the first three games, prompting Marco Balbul to go with a new-look defensive line with five at the back in the last game and they did put up a more solid performance. However, the best form of defense has always been to attack and until they do not improve their attacking prowess, they will always concede goals. This game provides a good opportunity for their forwards to score a goal against a KBFC side that has conceded 10 goals, which is the most by any team in the league. Their previous game against MCFC was the only game they have not scored in so far and they will have to be at their best to score against a heavily stacked defense in this game. KBFC have won 6 of the 16 games that the two teams have played against each other with NEUFC winning 4 and the remaining 6 ending in a draw. The visitors took four points in the two fixtures against NEUFC in the Hero ISL 2021-22 season as they drew the away fixture 0-0 before winning the home fixture 2-1 despite getting a red card in the game. NEUFC have changed their formation from 4-3-3 to 5-3-2 and they may decide to stick with it in this game but that means they have to resort to just two forward players putting the load on Jithin M.S and Matt Derbyshire to get the goals. They have not been in good form and have not received support from their midfielders as well who have failed to transform defense into attack. KBFC got Victor Mongil in the playing eleven in place of Ruivah Hormipam but had to sacrifice an overseas player up top. Ivan Kaliuzhnyi had been quite flat after his two-goal cameo in the first game and he was replaced by Rahul Kannoly Praveen. Adrian Luna is by far the most dangerous player in their lineup and he created ample opportunities in the last game with no reward. Which of these two teams will manage to claim much-needed points? Or will they share the spoils and continue their struggle in the League? We will find out soon.
Battle at the bottom!
We are well into Matchweek 5 as we reach the second game of the doubleheader in the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23 with two teams languishing at the bottom of the table and in desperate need of a win under their belt. NorthEast United FC who are yet to register a win in the league will host Kerala Blasters FC, a team just one place above them in the standings, at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. The hosts have had a miserable start to their campaign and are still hunting for their maiden win having lost a close game 1-0 away from home against JFC in their previous match. KBFC won their opening game in resounding fashion but have lost three games after that with their latest loss coming at the hands of MCFC as they were defeated 2-0 at home. NEUFC avoided a bottom-place finish in the Hero ISL 2021-22 season but look destined for it this year unless they do something to turn their fortunes around. KBFC were runners-up in Hero ISL 2021-22 but have fallen off drastically this year and will want to end their run of three consecutive losses. This could very well be a scrappy affair with both teams still searching for form but a win could kickstart either side's campaign.
