First home win for the Highlanders
What a game of football we witnessed! There were chances galore for both the teams but in the end NorthEast United FC emerged victorious. This is also their first win in front of the home crowd in this edition. The match was locked at 0-0 at halftime but Matej Poplatnik in the second period scored a brilliant header to open the scoring for his side. The Highlanders then launched an all out attack and found a way out when they got a penalty and Ogbeche calmly slotted it into the back of the net. The super sub, Juan Mascia, was very effective after coming on and he left his impact by scoring a wonder goal in the dying minutes to help his team secure all 3 points.

An exciting first half of football comes to an end. Both the teams would think they missed quite a few opportunities to lead before the break. Ogbeche had a good chance at the start when his header was brilliantly saved by Dheeraj Singh. Federico Gallego had an impact throughout the game creating multiple chances. The team in yellow should have scored a goal or two but Doungel heads it wide of the target. There were some good opportunities for them in the latter stages as well when Halicharan Narzary's chip shot just hit the woodwork. Both the teams have been shaky at the back as they are going for all attack. It should be an interesting second half.
