Awards
The Club Award goes to NorthEast United FC for winning this match . The Limitless Player of the Match Award is handed over to Eli Sabia and the Winning Pass of the Match goes to Lalthathanga Khawlhring. While the Emerging Player is Lalthathanga Khawlhring, Bartholomew Ogbeche is declared as the Hero of the Match.
Ogbeche rocket seals all 3 points.
The hosts had a lot of chances in the first half but could not convert them, In fact, there were no shots on target in the first half. The second half began in a very watchful way. Even though NorthEast United FC had more of the ball position they could not do much with it in the first 25 minutes of the second 45. They though started to make Karanjit Singh work in the final 20 minutes. The Chennaiyin FC defence looked good and it looked like the points would be shared. But Bartholomew Ogbeche had other ideas. He was not his usual best for most of the game but produced a moment of magic which was enough to turn the game in NorthEast United FC's favour. In the 87th minute, he hit a wrecking ball past Karanjit Singh which was enough to take the Highlanders 4 points clear off 5th placed Jamshedpur FC. New Year but the same story for Chennaiyin FC. Their misery continues to pile on and they just cannot win a game. They were second best for most of the game but would feel hard done by losing it so late.

Second Half
Chennaiyin FC get us underway for the second and final half of this game. Will we see a winner in this game?
Chances aplenty for the hosts.
It is 0-0 at half time and the question is how? NorthEast United FC have dominated the possession and have had plenty of opportunities to take the lead but haven't been able to do so. Bartholomew Ogbeche has not been at his usual best and has struggled to control the ball. The home side will argue that they should have had a penalty in the 19th minute when Germanpreet Singh tackled Federico Gallego inside the box. But the bigger problem has been in the final third where they have not been able to convert. The visitors, on the other hand, will be happy with the scoreline at half time. They have been on the back foot and have not had any clear cut chances to score. They are still in the game though and would like to somehow get on the attacking half and take the lead.
45'
Half time
The referee blows the whistle and brings the first half to a close.
44'
Once again poor touch
Federico Gallego from the right puts in a low cross in the box to Bartholomew Ogbeche. Ogbeche is unable to control the ball and it goes behind.
40'
Foul
Bartholomew Ogbeche's first touch is heavy and it is a 50-50 situation. Both Eli Sabia and Bartholomew Ogbeche go for the ball with a tackle but the former gets there first and Ogbeche strikes him. The referee keeps the card in his pocket.
32'
Another half chance for the hosts.
Reagan Singh whips in a cross from the right. Karanjit Singh comes out of his line and punches it away but it falls straight to a NorthEast United player who passes it on the left to Lalthathanga Khawlhring. He whips in the cross on the near post. Ogbeche and Sabia are on each other, Eli Sabia though wins the duel and clears the cross away for a corner. The subsequent corner is delat by Chennaiyin FC.
27'
So close
Federico Gallego from the left, crosses it to the right on the box to Lalthathanga Khawlhring. He then whips it inside the box towards Rowllin Borges, who tries to head it in but does not manage to connect to it. An opportunity to open the scoring goes begging. Borges should have done better there.
24'
So close.

19'
A huge shout for penalty

16'

Clash of teams with contrasting fortunes.
Hello and welcome to match 61 of this editions ISL. 4th placed NorthEast United host defending champions Chennaiyin FC. The hosts have had a solid start to the season and are on the right path to qualify for the semi-finals. They have won 5 and lost only twice this season. They are a point clear of 5th placed Jamshedpur FC and will want to increase the gap to 4 by winning this one. NorthEast United were taken to the sword by FC Goa befiore the winter break. They would look to bounceback from that humiliating 5-1 defeat. The Highlanders have a good record against the visitors having won 5 and lost only 2 against Chennaiyin FC in the 10 matches they have played againstb each other. Their captain Ogbeche will look to resume his hot goalscoring form and hope that the winter break has not blown it cold. Coming to the visitors, what a dreadful campaign this has been for them. The defending champions are dead last in the league standings and have managed to win just one game this season. Their chances to defend their crown is very, very slim but they will want to end the season on a high and win their remaining matches and end the season with some momentum. The last time these two sides met, it was a 7 goal thriller which NorthEast United won by a goal. This should be an exciting clash, join us for the start in a bot.
