New Year, new leader
What a start to 2019! Mumbai City FC have defeated the mighty Bengaluru FC, handing them their first loss of the season. Paulo Machado's 29th-minute goal was the difference between the two sides. Bengaluru FC had 16 attempts on goal but only one on target. The second half did not create any clear cut chances. Mumbai City FC knew what they had to do in the second essay and did just that. They defended resiliently as a unit and did not give the visitors any opening. The home side had a few opportunities to double their lead but could not capitalize on it. Bengaluru FC were sloppy in the final third. They had no answers for Mumbai City FC's defense. With this win, Mumbai City FC go on top of the table, having played a game more than Bengaluru FC. Super Sunday!
Super Sunday beckons us in the Indian Super League edition five. What more would you want if you are a football fan than just sit and watch the two best sides in the league go head-to-head against each other on a Sunday evening. Game number 62 sees the top-of-the-table Bengaluru FC travel to Mumbai to face Mumbai City FC who are hot on their heels. Till now, the hosts of today's game have never had the better of their opposition having lost two and drawn one other game. This season though, the home side has been on a roll and will look to change this stat at their home ground. That will not be easy though, as the visiting side are unbeaten so far in this edition and look a class above the rest. They have played a game less than the second-placed team but are still 3 points above them. Sunil Chettri and co. will look to resume their campaign after the winter break in the same manner. It will be the Indian maverick's 50th ISL appearance and that too against his former team. Will he score some goals and put in a Man of the Match performance? That and more to be seen in this encounter which promises to be a cracking one. We are not too far away...
